I believe giving students choices in the classroom increases motivation and a love for learning. Every three days, my students have a choice in where they would like to sit. Students learn responsibility as their goal is to find a place to help them focus. Part of their choice is based on who they choose to sit by and the other part is what seating option will help them focus and learn better. My students' individual needs are important to me so I can guide them to their full potential. Best practices for teachers are to bring their classrooms into the 21st century that is more aligned with their students needs and interests. According to edutopia.com. flexible seating helps children use up excess energy, increases motivation and engagement, and allows for better oxygen flow to their brains. The Gaiam Kids Balance Ball Chair will help my students focus as the seats are comfortable and allow for controlled movement. The chairs have a back support as the ball itself sits in a chair frame. The Kore Active Chair is a stool that is a favorite among their peers. The Kore stools will allow my students to move safely in their seats. Flexible seating is an excellent way to differentiate students' needs and provide for their unique learning styles that helps them focus better in class. The Gaiam Kids Balance Chair and the Kore Active Chair will help students stay engaged in learning, focused on daily tasks, and create a safe environment for their needs.
