Books Like Me
Funded Oct 21, 2021Thank you for the books that reflect my students' culture. We enjoyed reading all of the books that we received. Beautifully illustrated books create opportunities for my students to make connections to themselves and their world. We read the books together as a class. We also read the books in pairs to promote conversation and practice the English language.
"Red Is a Dragon" inspired us to created a red dragon for the Lunar New Year. My friend, Kayla said that she loved the book, "Eyes that Kiss In the Corner" because the main character looked like her. "Change Sings" by Amanda Gorman helped us understand Martin Luther King Jr.'s message, as we made peace plates during our Parent Engagement Night.
"A picture is worth a thousand words", to us, a picture is worth a thousand inspirations. Thank you again.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Dollar General Literacy Foundation and 2 other donors.Shoo Germs!
Funded Aug 24, 2020How lucky are my students to receive your generous donations! Health and safety are on the minds of my students, their parents, my colleagues, and myself.
Your donations help me organize my classroom environment in a manner where safety protocols are always maintained. Bins that are labeled as Cleaning Station help my students separate toys and manipulatives that they have touched for sanitizing. My students are assigned individual bins for their blankets, water bottles, and supplies. My students are taught the importance of hand washing. An automatic soap dispenser is the perfect solution to a germy soap bottle. Plus it adds fun to washing your hands. We fill our other soap dispenser with hand sanitizer.
As you can see, we wear our shields everyday to protect ourselves and our students. We are so grateful for your generosity. Thank you for helping us keep healthy and safe.”

Mrs. Ng
Inspiring Minds
Funded Aug 19, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations. As expected, the school year began with no budget for supplies. The construction paper was not only used daily for projects, but also was sent home with the students so that they could continue their learning during the remote portion of blended learning.
As you can see, my students used construction paper to learn the importance of health and safety. While learning about health and safety, my students also learned about colors. We counted 6 different pieces of colored paper to show 6 feet of social distancing. We learned about different shades of skin colors when we created our hand washing projects. We strengthened our fine motor skills using sticky pom poms to decorate our puzzle pieces. We learned that we are not only a unique puzzle piece but part of a bigger puzzle, a community.
Your contributions have helped my students learn every day, at school and at home. This would not be possible without your generosity. Thank you very much.”

Mrs. Ng
