Students will learn how to paint using acrylic paints on a new surface; the canvas. Painting on canvas will make creating artwork seem more serious to them. After all, what they see in museums is art painted on canvas. The two main reasons why canvas is such a popular surface among painters is due to how great it feels under the brush, as well as its obvious longevity and durability as opposed to paper. The ordered brushes and canvases will make a big difference in the learning experience of my inner-city students.
