Remote Learning: At Home Tools for Success
Funded Aug 26, 2020Thank you for supporting my classroom in a time of so much unknown. It truly meant the world to have the supplies needed in order to be successful both during at home learning, as well as hybrid. Students were able to engage in meaningful learning regardless of location.
Each student was so happy to receive a backpack filled with a white board, one subject notebook, drawing book, a can of PlayDoh, and a pencil pouch. The pencil pouch has 3 dry erase markers, a dry erase eraser, 6 mechanical pencils with two lead refills, a large pink eraser, scissors, glue stick, crayons, and colored pencils. My mom was thrilled to still be a part of my back to school plans and I am thrilled that my students had the resources they need to successfully start the year.”

Engaging and Meaningful Math Games Needed!
Funded Dec 20, 2019Two very large boxes arrived at my classroom doorstep. The students in my classroom were more than excited to see what was inside. I let them know that because of Donors Choose and the kindness of others we were able to get some incredible new math materials. In order to keep the suspense high, I pulled one item out of the boxes at a time. Every item in those boxes was met with "oohhs and aahhs." My students struggled (in the best way possible) to contain their excitement. One even burst out and said "This is the best day ever!" I couldn't agree more because I'm not sure who was more excited...them or me!
My student's hands were itching to get started! Of course we had to crack one of those activities open right then and there! Addition BINGO was a huge hit and now they can't wait to use everything else that came in those huge boxes.
My classroom has a diverse population with a wide range of skills and need. In order to meet these needs, we participate in Guided Math. Think Guided Reading but with Math! Students work in math centers while seeing myself and other support staff for small group instruction. During both independent, and small group instruction we will be able to use these instructional activities to meet the needs in my room. Your generosity will allow my students to think critically and apply new skills all while having fun!
Thank you so much for helping make Math fun again!”
