Make Math and Science Accessible and Fun Through Interactive Notebooks!
Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations that helped me receive $300 in Teachers-Pay-Teachers gift cards! I have already started purchasing items from my wishlist like the Interactive Math and Science notebook bundles.
When the school year starts these resources will make my Math and Science classes come to life and engage my students in their learning. I have used Interactive Notebooks in the past, and the difference between "standard" note-taking and interactive notebooks is amazing. Students retain and understand the material better when they have the opportunity to interact with it, and these notebooks do the trick.
The time-saving aspect of having 'ready made' materials and curriculum supports from experts on Teachers-Pay-Teachers has value beyond jus the dollar amount associated with the cost. Now that I don't have to spend hours creating the notebook page templates for each unit I have time to address differentiation among my students, have more physical and mental energy to address other academic needs, and more time to interact with students. These notebooks will benefit everyone, and I have all of you to thank!”

Funded Dec 4, 2019My students have been enjoying the periodic magazines filled with stories and current events for the past two weeks. When the first case of magazines arrived I unpacked them and sat them on my desk to distribute later after organizing them. My students spotted them and begged me to open them and wanted to look through them right away. Since then we have been reading and referring to these articles on a daily basis.
The students are excited to read about what is going on, relating the articles to things they see on the news and in their own lives. Because my students are Hard-of-Hearing or Deaf they often do not have the same incidental access to current events that typically-hearing students have. They are excited to connect pictures of cuddly Koalas that they have seen on the news to the articles they see in Scholastic.
Thank you so much for giving all my students the opportunity to engage in the world around them and creating meaningful, engaging discussions for the whole class!”

Funded Nov 21, 2017I cannot explain how amazing it was to see the look on my student's faces when they saw one of their new robot friends, "Robbie" roll into their classroom. They have embraced the class robots as one of their own. We have been able to put our coding skills to practical use. Our future projects include making a movie of acting out the Food Chain with the robots, any many other exciting activities.
We have used the "sound programming" feature of the robots to practice auditory reception and speech and articulation goals for our students who are all Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing. Our students are more engaged in lessons involving programming because they have a real-life context now.
Other students have also been motivated to behave better in class with the robots as an incentive. Thanks to your donations we are able to have these amazing robots in our class to act as ambassadors to a whole new exciting world of coding!”
