  • Rug To The Rescue!

    My students and I are so thankful for your generous donations. We are so fortunate that we have a rug to gather around multiple times a day. We read stories and sing songs, learn new reading strategies, participate in group discussions, practice our letter sounds and letter writing, and even count to 100 every single day at our rug. My 22 students each have their own special "box" that they call their own. They know which color and row is all theirs and they quickly get back to their own special place when I ask them to go to to their spot and start counting down.

    We meet here for our Morning Meeting every day of the week. On Mondays, we sit around the edge of the carpet and take turns saying 'Good Morning' to each student. We sing Rise & Shine and welcome in the school day Monday-Friday. We recite our Kindergarten Pledge and go over calendar. We spend hours each day on our sturdy, colorful rug. How different our classroom would be without this rug.

    For those who aren't in the classroom, you might not understand how important this rug is to our daily routine. We really do rely so much on having a safe and cozy spot to come together each day. I appreciate everyone who has helped to make my classroom what it is!”

Reading, math, and social skills lessons, learning groups and academic conversations all happen on this special spot in the classroom. This new carpet would make the classroom even more inviting and welcoming space for my students. It is very important for Kindergarten children to have a fun and comfortable whole class meeting place in the classroom! This rug is a simple but effective tool that will provide the children with that space to grow and develop academically, socially, and emotionally. A Place for Everyone Classroom Carpet from Lakeshore will provide students with their own space during these important instruction times. Additionally, the spots on the rug will help my students to manage their own personal space. It will be a visual reminder of where they should be during our lessons. We currently do not have a classroom carpet rug. I would absolutely love for my students to have a clean carpet rug to sit on while they learn! This project would also impact the lives of all the future students that will enter my classroom in the years to come! Thank you for considering donating to our class project!
