Books And Music, A Great Combination!
Funded May 27, 2014I would like to take a moment to thank you for your generous donation to this project. My students and I have been enjoying our wonderful new books. The books are part of the preschool, kindergarten and first grade music curriculum in our school district. Whenever we use the books in class, the children are quiet and focused on the music and pictures. When the books are part of centers, the children individually sing their way through the books. This has given my shy students a chance to sing on their own without the entire class watching them.
It is because of your generosity that the youngest students in our school are learning to find their singing voice through beautiful literature. The children often request to hear me sing these books to them at the end of their music lessons. They have commented about how neat the books are and how much they like them. I'm so fortunate to have your support. I will use these books in my classroom for years to come. Hundreds of children will benefit from them. Thanks again so much for your generosity. It has made a huge impact on my classroom!”

Refresh the Music!
Funded Jun 17, 2014I'd like to take a moment and thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating to my project, "Refresh the Music!". My students and I have really enjoyed our new instruments. They are played by the 400 students in our school almost daily! The students don't have to wait so long for their turns to play the instruments. Our new ocean drum has become a favorite in our dramatic musical plays. The wood block, sand blocks and guiros help the younger students learn to keep a steady beat and are integral in the older students' World Music Drumming pieces.
It is because of your generosity that my students are able to build their musical skills and knowledge through playing instruments. Without you, my younger students wouldn't have as many hands on experiences with instruments and my older students wouldn't be able to put together their world music drumming pieces. You have given them a wonderful gift, one that will keep on giving to hundreds of students for years to come. Once again, thank you so very much!”

Greatness through Guitar
Funded Jun 10, 2014I would like to thank you for your incredible donation to purchase a new guitar for my music classroom. My students and I are so thankful for the addition of this beautiful instrument. I have learned a few chords already and can accompany the younger children on some of their favorite songs. The guitar has a calming effect on them and playing it while singing is a wonderful way to end class. Our older students are learning to play chords and we have begun to use the guitar with our Orff lessons. The guitar sounds beautiful with our xylophones and recorders.
It is because of people like you that my students flourish and excel in music class. This guitar has not only taught them about music theory through playing chords, it has taught them to be musically sensitive and creative. Thank you so very, very much for this wonderful gift! We really appreciate it!”

Jammin' With A Djembe
Funded Oct 4, 2014I would like to thank you for your incredibly generous donation to my project, "Jammin' with a Djembe". The new djembe has become the most popular drum in our classroom. We play it almost every day! The djembe's sound is different from the other drums in our classroom, and because of this we often use it to improvise. Even the shyest students will try improvising if it means they get to play the djembe!
Even though we've only had the djembe a few weeks, it has had an incredibly positive impact on our music classroom. It is because of people like you that my students are having great experiences with drumming! Thank you once again for your donation. My students and I truly appreciate it!”

Ukulele Fever!
Funded Nov 25, 2013On behalf of my students, I would like to thank you for your generous donation to my project. My music room now has three more ukuleles for my students now and for years to come. My students were very excited when they saw the new ukuleles. Ukuleles are a favorite amongst the fourth and fifth grade students especially. The youngest students eagerly look forward to the day when they too get to play the ukuleles. The instruments certainly create a lot of excitement in the music room.
My students will learn to play the ukuleles each spring as part of a unit. They will learn about and how to play tonic, dominant and sub-dominant chords, accompany themselves as they sing, learn to pick melodies and how to strum correctly. Learning to play the ukuleles will satisfy many of our school district's music objectives for elementary school students.
Best of all, fewer of the children will have to share instruments. This will help them learn more quickly and more in-depth. Our lessons will not be as repetitive as before. We are all looking forward to making great music with these wonderful instruments!”

Mad About Mallets
Funded Jul 31, 2013We are so grateful and thankful for you for providing our music classroom with the funds to buy new mallets for our xylophones. We use them every day in our music making. It is because of your kindness that my students music classroom experiences have been heightened in positive ways.
Our new, high-quality mallets give our xylophones a beautiful, even sound. The students no longer have to wait their turn to play at an instrument because we now have mallets for each student in every class. These new mallets have not only given my students more opportunities to make music, but we are able to learn and perform more music works than ever before because we do not have to repeat our pieces simply to give everyone a turn.
Thank you so much for funding my project and giving the kids in my school the opportunity to learn to play beautiful music. We appreciate your kindness each and every day!”

Time for Tinikling!
Funded Jan 26, 2013I would like to thank you for your generous donation to my music classroom. The tinikling poles you donated have been a marvelous tool for my fifth grade students. They have been busy learning the tinikling dance while practicing moving to the beat and working cooperatively with others to achieve a goal. For some of the students it is not easy, but the dance itself is very engaging and I find that every student wants to keep practicing until they get it right.
It is not always easy to find extra funds to give my students these unique experiences. Arts funding is often the first to be cut when school budgets are tight. Your donation has given these students and will give future students a fun, unique learning experience. We sincerely appreciate it!”

Operation Music!
Funded Sep 15, 2012I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for your generous donation to my music classroom. The drum you donated has been used in my classroom almost every day since it arrived. It has become a staple in our Orff-Schulwerk activities. The students have learned to play different tones on the drum and have used these tones to create exciting rhythms to accompany songs and dances. Every student, from kindergarten through fifth grade, has played the drum.
High quality instruments are expensive. Without your help, my students would not have this wonderful drum to play and create with in music class. I am confident it will serve hundreds of students for years to come.
Without donors like you, many students and schools would simply do without.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lawrence
