Ready on the Set? Camera, Action!
Funded Aug 23, 2018As you can see from our pictures, the students in Room 61 were very excited to open the camera and accessories that came to our classroom. When the packages arrived we were in the middle of setting up our classroom for the year. There were boxes everywhere, because we had just moved into a brand new school. Once all the boxes were unpacked and found places in our classroom, there were two small boxes left that hadn't been unpacked. I purposely left them knowing what was inside.
A few days later a student asked about them. I figured it was time to reveal what was inside. We gathered on the classroom rug and proceeded to open the camera. They were very excited to find out that they would be able to use the camera to document their learning and share with families and friends through their Google programs at school. As you can see students are beginning to take photos of their projects. We look forward to taking the camera with us outside when we go out for our place-based learning projects. Thank you donors for bringing joy to our learning and for your generous donations to make this possible.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 5 other donors.Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Outside We Must Go!
Funded Aug 4, 2018We just moved into a brand new building. It was a week late when school started, so we were still in boxes and construction. When the boxes arrived the kids were curious what was in them. I said they were gifts for our our classroom, and they would be excited when they saw them.
We had just started our mapping unit and had no globe to refer to when talking about the equator. That's when I said, "I think it is time to open up the box". The students were very excited to see the globe and could now picture where on the Earth the equator was located. Having the visual for them to use was great. One student even said, "Ah now I get it!" They all wanted to know what was in the other box. They were so excited when it got opened and they realized they were each going to be able keep their clipboard/whiteboard with them at their desk.
We have used the whiteboards daily in math since we received them, and the kids are referring to the globe while filling out their mapping assignments. Once construction is done outside the building we will be able to take our whiteboards outside to do some scientific observations. We are looking forward to that!
We are so thankful to our donors for generously donating the funds for our our whiteboards and classroom globe. Both items will be able to be used throughout the year for many projects and years to come. Thank you donors for reaching out to my classroom and bringing joy and excitement!”

Rain Rain Go Away, We Need Something Fun to Play
Funded Dec 29, 2017My 4th graders were so excited when the boxes arrived to our classroom. They were expecting them,so when they were brought into the classroom they couldn't wait to open them. The best part of all was that we didn't have to wait to try out our new games since it happened to be raining which meant RAINY DAY RECESS!
It was great to see the students interacting and having fun together instead of playing on the computer. Instead of being upset when the rain comes, my kids are now excited to be able to get out the new games. They even ask to stay in on nice days so they can play them. Some students even are asking parents to purchase similar one to play at home.
Thank you donor for your generous donation towards the purchase of our rainy day recess games. Rainy days are now days we look forward to because of your generous donation.”

Ms. Meier
