  • Learning Through Roleplay

    Funded Feb 2, 2024

The 6-8 grade students in the 6:1:1 setting classrooms have officially launched their ADL (activities of daily living cart). The students in the host class were able to engaged in the week long project to help them prepare for the launch at the end of the week. The students handed out menus and greeted students in their neighboring classrooms. The students reviewed the data collected and were able to organize the requested items for themselves and the fellow students in their grade band. At the end of the week the host class pushed their ADL cart to the different classrooms to deliver the orders.

The students were shocked and amazed to see the snacks, sensory items, and the aprons when the boxes were open. They enjoyed participating in this ADL experience and were able to focus on their cognitive thinking skills and social skills.

Thanks again for your donation which helped the 26 students in our 6:1:1 classes.”

  • With Class Supplies, We Can Fly Towards Our Goals

    Funded Feb 27, 2023

Thank you for your support in fulling this project. The students were happy to see the new supplies as they arrived to the classroom. They could not wait to help open the boxes to see what was inside.

We have been completing craft projects, in which each students have a chance to give out a supply or material needed for the craft. The dry-erase makers, velcro dots, sentence strips, and glue sticks were all used during this time. The students were able to complete the project. Once the students complete the project, sentence start prompts such as I made.... and I like.... were written on the sentence strips to help students uses sentences to explain their project.

As we continue to complete projects like this, we hope to introduce the students to social skills, creativity, speaking, listening and independence skills.”

  • Printers, Shelves, and Chairs Oh My!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for your donations. My students were so happy to see the boxes arrive to the classroom. They sat with anticipation as they watched the boxes be open. The students were happy to see that their artwork could be copied using the printer.

The printer allows for us to have colorful worksheets. We are able to print individual copies of books for our students in the class. They are now more motivated to read books that are printed in color.

The students have also began to learn how to write drafts and draw on computers. They can now use the printer to print out their works.

The shelves are used to store materials for the students so they can have easy access to the items they may need.”

  • Music and Art Is In Our Hearts!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for contributing to my classroom. Due to your generous donations my students have been able to explore learning through arts and music. My students use the storage bins to keep their writers notebook accessible to them in the classroom. They are enjoying being apart of the author's writing process and having the ability to gather the art materials they need to illustrate their stories.

My students faces lit up when they saw the boxes. They sat patiently as I opened the boxes. They were happy to see the new markers, headphones, crayons, scissors, and storage boxes.

With these additional materials my students will be able to continue learning about illustrating writing. They will be able to independently gather the materials needed for their writing since it will be accessible in the new storage bins.”

  • We Are In This Together, Even When You Are Home!

    Funded Jul 16, 2020

Thank you for your support during these difficult times. With your donations I was able to organize a care package caravan for my students. My classroom staff and I traveled through the streets of New York to hand deliver these care packages to the students.

My students were so happy to see their teachers as well as the donated gifts. My non-verbal students smiled wide and jumped with joy. My verbal students shared their thanks. Not only were the students happy so were the parents. The parents were happy to see the materials in the bag that would help them during this time of remote learning.

With the lined paper, markers, dry-erase sleeves the students were able to focus on their fine motor skills. The sensory items such as the snacks and toys provided the parents with reinforcement items to help promote expected behavior. The cleaning supplies also helped the families stay safe during this pandemic.

Once again, this would not have been possible without your generous donations.”

  • We Like To Move It ... In Our Flexible Seats

    Funded Jan 14, 2020

Thank you for your endless support. It has been amazing to see the students faces as they saw the packages come in. They wanted to know what was in those huge boxes. The students have showed improvement in their abilities to focus during lessons due to the flexible seating. The ink has also been so helpful because now their activities can be in color. This has helped there understanding greatly. The students are now requesting to read more stories of their favorite characters because they want to know what colors they will experience while reading. • Coding...is for Everyone...including Students With Disabilities

    Funded Apr 16, 2019

Thank you for taking the time out to donate to my project. My students were truly blessed to have this project filled. It was amazing to be given the opportunity to tell them that they would be receiving new tablets and headphones. The students are excited to have a tablet for each student. They are happy that since we now have a class set, they are able to use the tablet during instruction as well as when they are given free choice.

The students who were not able to verbal communicate during discussions are now able to use apps that allow them to talk to text. This has helped them engage more in classroom discussions.

The students are able to use the tablets to conduct their research for their creative writing assignments. This gift has been greatly received in my class. I look forward to giving my special education students continued access to the general education curriculum through the use of technology.”

  • Interactive Tablets: Will Help These Superheros Strengthen Their Powers

    Funded Feb 16, 2018

My students and I would like to thank you so much for helping us reach our goal and funding our project. The use of the tablets has allowed the students who are not able to write select images to express themselves such as their classmates who are able to write.

The tablets have also been used to reward students for engaged in educational task. For these students its important to keep them motivated. So of these students are not able to access technology at home and this motivates them to complete work and come to school.

the most students are most excited about continuing their research on classroom lessons by using the tablets. For example, my students were learning about the life cycle of insects, several of my students found songs and images of insects that wanted to learn about by using the tablets.

These tablets have been especially beneficial to two of my students who normally weren't able to stay in engage during tasks for long period of times. These tablets has helped me build extension activities that relate to the lesson that they can now access on the tablets.”

Working in a classroom with children with Autism presents many challenges. One of those challenges is making sure that each and every child's learning styles are taking into consideration. With the use of the tablets, as well as the other materials, the students who don't have the ability to write or speak now have the means to communicate just like the rest of their peers. Just Imagine, you have the opportunity to give my students their chance to develop to their fullest potential. This allows them to access the lesson in the way that best suits their learning styles. My students benefit the most from having a hands-on learning experience. All the materials requested will give them the chance to do just that. For example, the storage bins will be used to develop work stations in which the students will be able to work on their targeted individual educational goals. The Polaroid camera will be used to show their progress. I always believed in the idea of Each One, Teach One... and that is what I'm striving to do for my students.
