  • More Headphones Please!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

There are no words to express my gratitude for your generosity. Thanks to you, my students are able to listen to the software we use for Mathematics and English Arts.

You should have seen the joy in my students eyes when we opened the box full of headphones. Now, EVERY SINGLE ONE of my students have their own set of headphones to use in the class. They were So excited to used them and they could not wait until Thursday (when we have the chromebook cart to used them).

Thursday came along and my students were anxious to try them on. Once they put them on they fell in love with them. "Ms. Flores, they are so comfortable!" Exclaimed one of my students.

You made my day and my children's day as well!

No more putting the volume down because we have no headphones and they had to be able to hear their own computer.

Thank you so much for your tremendous donation. Having these headphones has helped my students feel more motivated to do their work on the Chromebooks. This would not have been possible without you!

Again, thank you so much for the donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Flores

  • Ink, Ink and More Ink

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

"Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other." -Randy Pausch

Thank you so much for the generous donation. My students and I are forever grateful to you. Paper and ink are essentials in our classroom. My students were super excited to be able to print in color and/or in color paper. "Miss Flores, can I add a picture to my essay?" one of my students said. Thanks to you now I could say yes to them because not only are we able to print, but we are able to print in color!

"Miss, what are you going to print in those pretty colors?" one of my students talking about the colored paper.

Who would think that things such as paper and ink can make people so happy?

From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for supporting my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Flores

  • Help! Chromebook Needed!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for funding our projects!

Thank you so much for the computer that we received. All of my students want it to try it! They are all super excited! They are all patiently waiting for their turn to use it. They do not want to use our old computers that we have they all want to try the new Chromebook that we received. Thank you so much! Instead of having 5 students at a time working on the computers I am able to have one more. Thank you so much for your donation.

Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity!

Words cannot express how my students and I feel.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Flores

  • Reading for Excellence!

    Funded Mar 21, 2018

I am extremely grateful for your generous donations. You should have seen my students' eyes when they walked into the classroom and all the books were on the rug! Their eyes were full of joy! "Wow! Miss, we got all of those?" one of my readers said. They are super enthusiastic about reading them. "Miss, miss, can I read one of the new books,?" my students exclaimed. Before I put the books by levels I gave my students a chance to explore those books and skim through them. Each group got a few minutes to look at our new additions. They were so excited and they cannot wait for next week so they can switch their old books and start reading the new ones.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for helping us build a better library. My readers and I are forever grateful to you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Flores

  • Elastic Scholastic to Stretch Minds

    Funded Dec 29, 2017

Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart. We finally received our first Issue of the Scholastic magazines. My students and I loved them! They loved to be able to read about "cool stuff" as they would say. They were sooo pleased with the articles.

Our school days are jam-packed trying to meet the Common Core State Standards and there seems to be little time for extra activities. This is what makes Scholastic News magazines so attractive to me. They don't have to be extra because they fit seamlessly into the reading, science, and social studies lessons we already teach. I love how everything in them overlaps with the standards that we have to work on. Scholastic News offers opportunities for independent work, collaborative group work, and whole class instruction.

When I passed out the magazines, I could see how much they enjoyed reading it! You can clearly see on their faces. I did not hear any talking for quite sometime but when they started talking, my goodness! They were having constructive conversations about the magazines! That was awesome to see! I can't wait to do the lessons that come with the magazines.

Thank you so much! Without your help my student wouldn't have been able to experience this.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Flores

  • So Fresh and So Clean

    Funded Jan 1, 2018

What a great way to start the year! No words can't describe how thankful I am for your generosity. My students have fallen in love with their hygiene items. They couldn't stop smelling them! They LOVED the aroma of the shampoo and body wash. They told me that they couldn't wait to go home and try their new products. My classroom was smelling like blueberry the following day. They all look good and smell good.

I realize that there are many projects and charities to choose from... thank you from the bottom of my heart for appreciating the importance in my project!

Once again, thank you very much for your immense kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Flores

I know I have been inspired to pursue education because of the great teachers that have come before me. They took the time to share their knowledge and sparked my love for the classroom. I hope to connect my students with similar inspirational professionals and light their spark as well. My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles. All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where ninety-nine percent of our students receive free meals. My students always try their best at everything and anything despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives. They are already not expected to have it as easy as others, but we learn that with hard work and consistency, they can be "unique" or different from the rest. My students are so eager to learn that it makes coming to work easy!
