  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Aug 7, 2020

Yesterday, my grade level and I were distributing books and materials to the students. I thought it was the perfect time for me to distribute the headphones to the students. The students and parents were very thankful for the donation. I had quite a few parents asked me if they needed to return them. I was happy to inform them that the headphones were for them to keep.

Today, during class, I was beyond excited when I saw them wearing their headphones. They were wearing them so proudly. "Miss, the headphones are so cute!" said one of my students, she loved the pink headphones. All of the students started telling me how much they like them. Headphones make calls sound so much better for everyone. I was so happy and excited because although there are many distractions at home, the students were able to pay more attention and concentrate in our lessons all thanks to you and the headphones that were donated to them. They could hear me clearly!

You have no idea how much you have help us during our virtual days.

Distance learning is hard but you made it a little more manageable for my students and I. Thank you so much for allowing my students to have the necessary tools needed to succeed during virtual learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Flores

  • Indoor Recess- an Active and Productive Break

    Funded Feb 21, 2020

Thank you so much for the donations! Board games help students in many ways, with their social skills, to learn about boundaries, to focus, to stay engaged among many other things.

These board games have been a hit in our classroom! When they saw all of the packages that started coming to our classrooms they were so excited, "Miss, when are we going to be able to play with them," one of my students asked. Because of the California weather, we never know when we are going to be inside or outside, so I told them that we were going to have a fun Friday, only if they were at their best behavior. Let me tell you, my students are awesome as they are, but this week, they went above and beyond, they really wanted to use them. They could not wait!

Friday came (today-I could not even wait to tell you) and they were anxiously waiting for recess time, I explained the rules and they got to play. The students were sooo happy, you should have seen their faces, I wish the Donors Choose website had an option to add more pictures, they were all really into the games, even I got to play with one of the groups. They cannot wait until the next time we use the board games. I will use them not only for inclement weather schedule but as an incentive for my students. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Flores

  • Ordinary People CAN Change the World

    Funded Feb 1, 2020

"UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."– The Lorax, Dr. Seuss. Thank you very much for donating to our project. Thank you for supporting our classroom. My students have enjoyed reading these books so much! They could not wait until the books were ready to be checked out. I had to speed up my process and do it fast since they all wanted to read them. During our independent reading time, these are the books that they are taking out to read. It has been very satisfying to hear them talking about the person from their books and talking about what book they want to read next. Thank you very much for helping my students enjoy reading.”

  • So Fresh and So Clean!

    Funded Oct 4, 2019

I have been blessed for getting this exact same project funded for three years in a row, but this year has been different. My students were beyond thankful for all the items. I even received messages from the parents asking me to thank you for them.

No words can't describe how thankful I am for your generosity. My students have fallen in love with their hygiene items. They couldn't stop smelling them! They LOVED the aroma of the shampoo and body wash. They told me that they couldn't wait to go home and try their new products. My classroom was smelling like blueberry the following day. They all look good and smell good. Their self-esteem was on the roof! Because when you look good, you feel good.

I realize that there are many projects and charities to choose from... thank you from the bottom of my heart for appreciating the importance of my project!

Once again, thank you very much for your immense kindness.”

  • Don't Be a Wimp!

    Funded Aug 30, 2019

There are not enough words that can explain how thankful I am for those books. You should have seen the students' faces when I was showing them what was in the box. They are super excited to read them. "Miss, I have never read a Dog Man book before, I am so excited to read the whole collection," said one of my students. "Can I borrow one already?" "Is that the new Dog Man book?" were some of the questions that bombarded me when we opened the box. I am super excited to see that the students are excited about reading. They can't wait to read these new books.

They are so excited and they cannot wait for next week so they can switch their old books and start reading the new ones.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for helping us build a better library. My readers and I are forever grateful to you.”

Words cannot express how thankful I am to have receive this donation. My students were extremely thankful to receive a new homework folder and some essential supplies to complete their homework. The students were Soo excited!! They loved everything! Especially the erasers!

I wish you would've seen their faces lit up when they saw all that was in that folder. "Miss they gave us all of these?" They were so grateful for everything.

Thank you so much for helping me help my students and their families. One less thing they have to worry about.

My students are so proud of their homework folder, I have a feeling I wont be getting any "dog ate my homework"stories; fingers crossed 🤞

  • Cleaning Each Day Keeps the Germs Away

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I want to take the time to sincerely thank you for your donation to our classroom.

Thank you so much for the donations. Because of budget cuts, we only have one janitor who is in charge of our over 1,000 student school. Our school is huge! which means that no one really cleans our class. I have to do it myself.

But thanks to you our classroom is looking cleaner than usual! It looks good and it smells good! My students are so happy that they have a clean place to study. They have even asked if they can stay after school so they can help me clean.

I want to thank you for helping us make a positive difference. Being in a clean place makes you feel good!

Thank you so much for your awesome donation! My students and I are forever grateful to you.

Thanks again for your generosity and support,”

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for funding our projects!

Thank you so much for the ipad mini that we received. All of my students want it to try it! They are all super excited! They are all patiently waiting for their turn to use it. They do not want to use our old computers that we have they all want to try the new ipad mini that we received. Thank you so much! Instead of having 5 students at a time working on the computers I am able to have one more. Thank you so much for your donation. This ipad mini has been a big hit in my class.

Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity!

Words cannot express how my students and I feel.”

I know I have been inspired to pursue education because of the great teachers that have come before me. They took the time to share their knowledge and sparked my love for the classroom. I hope to connect my students with similar inspirational professionals and light their spark as well. My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles. All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where ninety-nine percent of our students receive free meals. My students always try their best at everything and anything despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives. They are already not expected to have it as easy as others, but we learn that with hard work and consistency, they can be "unique" or different from the rest. My students are so eager to learn that it makes coming to work easy!
