  • Building Emotional Bridges: Bilingual Books to Empower Young Hearts

    Funded Apr 9, 2025

Thank you so much for generously funding my DonorsChoose project! Because of your support, my 4th-grade dual language students will now have access to bilingual social-emotional learning books, organized book bins, and clear labeling to help them easily find and connect with stories that matter.

These resources will make a meaningful difference—not only by nurturing their emotional growth through topics like empathy, self-regulation, and kindness, but also by strengthening their literacy in both English and Spanish. Your gift empowers my students to thrive emotionally and academically in both languages.

I truly appreciate your belief in our classroom and your investment in their journey. Your kindness will have a lasting impact.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Flores

I know I have been inspired to pursue education because of the great teachers that have come before me. They took the time to share their knowledge and sparked my love for the classroom. I hope to connect my students with similar inspirational professionals and light their spark as well. My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles. All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where ninety-nine percent of our students receive free meals. My students always try their best at everything and anything despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives. They are already not expected to have it as easy as others, but we learn that with hard work and consistency, they can be "unique" or different from the rest. My students are so eager to learn that it makes coming to work easy!
