3D Printing in 2nd Grade
Funded Mar 3, 2025Thank you for your generous donation to our second grade class 3D printer. We have been learning about 3-D shapes in geometry and can’t wait to print some examples. We now have a 3D printer that we will get to use to inspire, create, and build with. Thanks for being part of our class joy and success. It’s takes a village and we appreciate you! We can’t wait to share pictures of it in action.”

Coding and Robots
Funded Feb 13, 2024Students have loved learning how to code our Dash robot. They have enjoyed using the IPAD to control the sound and direction of Dash. The have learned how to complete the challenges to code it correctly to move onto the next level. Students enjoy working with partners to use the dash robot. It has added a fun element to our classroom breaks.
Our second robot, Botley has also been utilized a lot. Students have liked setting up obstacle courses for Botley to navigate. Students learned how to make it travel on the black line too. These tools have added excitement and joy into our class. Thanks for helping second grade code and collaborate.”

Maker Space Cart
Funded Mar 2, 2023Six different classrooms have enjoyed creating projects with the maker space cart and materials. Most recently, we made monarch butterfly life cycle models. Students used pipe clears, tissue paper, beads, and cardboard materials off the cart. The cart keeps everything organized and accessible for kids. Last year we were able to make Geometry robots.
It's so nice to see how excited kids get to build things. Thanks for helping our second graders grow our STEM brains. I appreciate your support!
It's been a great creative outlet for our students.”

Building LEGO Engineers
Funded Sep 21, 2022My second grade students have loved the STEM Lego Spike kits. They have already built a cable cart, pinball machine, and helicopter. We have had fun learning together how to code these creations in order to get them to move. These two kits have excited and inspired my students to build and create.
I really appreciate your generous donation in order to bring science and engineering into my second grade classroom. 25 students will now have the opportunity to build and explore with the Legos and coding software.”

Funded Apr 7, 2022Our second grade class has loved the prize box that you helped to fund. It has motivated students to be their best self and follow our class rules. Students are excited to pick a prize on Friday. The slime, pencil grips, and toys have been a huge hit. As a class we are working towards tracking the speaker, showing respect, and completing work. Students earn tickets for following our class rules and get to use these tickets to buy prizes.
Thanks for bringing joy to our second grade class. We appreciate your support. It takes a village to support a class and thanks for being part of ours!”

Funded Feb 18, 2022Our class was impacted by the pandemic and your generosity helped inspire students to do their best. We needed materials and books to improve our classroom culture. The books about celebrating diversity were read aloud and this lead to great discussions during morning meeting.
To help us stay organized the colorful book bins were great. Students loved the phonics quiz cards and power pens. They enjoyed practicing their reading skills by using these pens and cards. The bean bag was used in class and students loved to read in it and it provided a comfy seat for multiple kids. I really appreciate your support and these supplies helped our transition back into the classroom full time.”

Funded Jan 23, 2022My second grade class was impacted from the pandemic and your generosity helped improve our classroom climate. The supplies that our class received supported their social and emotional growth. I read aloud the kindness series books to help explain how to do kind things for our classmates and why that is important.
One challenging aspect of being back in the classroom for some students was managing their emotions. The sensory bottles, feelings journal, and smelly playdoh were tools that helped students stay calm when they were upset. We used these materials to build our calm down classroom box. Students now know how to request these materials and use them in order to make good choices. I really appreciate your support this year.”

Teamwork and Friendships
Funded Aug 13, 2019My students learned so much from our new books. We had great morning meeting discussions about using kind words, making mistakes, and persevering. In the book, The Invisible String they learned how actions impact how others feel about themselves. In the Girl Who Never Made Mistakes they learned how to have a growth mindset. These books have been well loved. Students really enjoyed reading them independently and with partners.
The outdoor equipment we received has been used a lot during recess. I have seen students work together more during soccer and basketball. They have learned valuable life lessons. Thank you for getting these materials, so the students could work on teamwork skills.
My fourth grade students have really benefited from your generosity. I have really seen the love of reading grow and new friendships blossom on the field.”

Funded Nov 16, 2018My students are so excited to use our new materials. They love using the new flexible seating and it helps them stay more focused. We use them as a behavior incentive. The students are really engaged when using our poster pocket chart. They enjoy adding to our posters and putting them around the room. The pocket chart is also great for vocabulary. We can sort new science and social studies vocabulary.
I use the reading practice workbooks in an intervention group. Students are able to read passages and poems and quiz themselves to check their comprehension. This helps them feel more confident about their comprehension of books. We use the math pick a problems during small group time. Students can work with partners to help solve word problems. Students enjoy the challenge of these problems.
We really appreciate the supplies and your generosity! My fourth grade class is so excited and grateful. We can't wait to continue to use our supplies all year long.”
