String Us Up!
Funded Nov 24, 2011Thank you all for donating to this project to get my school more guitar and violin strings! Your contributions truly meant a lot to us and made it possible for a number of instruments that were missing strings to be put back into circulation and the hands of the students.
In a high-poverty school like ours that has no budget for music, it is easy for a lack of basic supplies to prevent a lot of learning, joy, and confidence building. Having more strings means that more children can enjoy the incredible experience of becoming musicians.
Thank you!”

Enriching Books and CDs for K-4 Music
Funded Dec 19, 2011Thank you all so much for your generous contributions that enabled DonorsChoose to purchase such wonderful books and CDs for my students. The books have already given hundreds of children a glimpse of music in different cultures and have inspired a lot of enthusiastic independent research. The CDs we've received have also had an enriching impact on the students, particularly the ones that demonstrate a variety of instruments that these children would otherwise not hear.
Thank you so much for your kindness! It makes such a difference for us. ”

Help Us Visualize Rhythm
Funded Nov 4, 2011Thank you so much for donating to "Help Us Visualize Rhythm." Although we've only had our new materials for a short amount of time, they are already a big hit and have been incorporated into many lessons.
My students are getting a lot of use out of their beautiful scarves and have been using them to demonstrate different rhythms and styles of music. They love the boomwhackers too, which are giving them the opportunity to play pitched percussion as an ensemble. Of course, nothing can top our new parachute which creates joy on a daily basis.
Thank you so much for enriching the musical education of my students. They really appreciate it and so do I.”

Music Books For Elementary Students!
Funded May 5, 2011Thank you all so much for your generosity! The new collection of beautiful books our school has received has created a lot of excitement and enthusiasm for music and my students couldn't be more thrilled.
The books that we have received have been teaching the children about music all over the world. Some of the books have included great music games that have been a huge hit while others have recordings that have inspired a lot of in-class composition. At the suggestion of a book about international instruments, we've even started creating rain sticks with the help of the art teacher. It is really amazing what these books are doing for our school.
Thank you so much for supporting our music program. These books are letting hundreds of students enjoy new experiences.”

Bring Our Stories and Songs to Life With a Puppet Theater!
Funded Dec 29, 2010Thank you all so much for your donations! As you can tell from the photos that have been posted, my students absolutely love their new puppets. This has been a great creative outlet for them and a source of inspiration for many original stories and songs.
My children have been thrilled to have such a fun tool in music class and have been excited to perform for each other. I have seen many children who were previously shy in my classes blossom as they put on shows for one another. At a school with such limited resources, your support means so much and truly makes a difference.
Thank you so much for your generosity. We are really enjoying your gift. ”

Quality Kids Are Craving a Keyboard!
Funded Dec 11, 2010My students and I have been enjoying our new keyboard so much! It has been so exciting for them to start learning the fundamentals of music using this wonderful tool. Many students are getting a sense of the basics of the piano and feel proud of their accomplishments so far.
For a community that has incredibly limited exposure to the arts, it is such an enormous gift for us to receive this keyboard. These children would not have had an opportunity to become pianists if it hadn't been for your generosity.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support. You are making a major difference in many lives.”

Budding Guitarists Need Music Stands!
Funded Nov 19, 2010My students and I are so appreciative of your kind donations. The guitar program at the elementary and middle school where I teach is in its infancy and we have a $0 budget. To receive 15 beautiful music stands has been very exciting for the children.
Now that we have music stands, my students have been able to learn more complicated pieces and have added to their repertoire of chords. With the stands, they have a sense of professionalism and have told me many times that the stands make them feel like "real musicians."
The students I work with are from one of the poorest communities in America. To encourage them to pursue a healthy, safe, and rewarding activity is truly a heroic thing to do. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. ”

Handbells for K-8
Funded Sep 8, 2010My students and I are so appreciate of your kindness and generosity. When the handbells arrived last week, all of my students, from Kindergarten through 8th Grade, reacted with excitement and enthusiasm. I cannot tell you how many children asked me, "When will I get to play these?"
Every grade level that I teach has loved playing the bells so far. A number of students have even asked to use them in our Winter Concert this December. Since your donations allowed us to receive two sets of bells, there are enough so that in every class I teach, every child has a bell. These instruments truly allow all of the children to participate in the fun and interactive creation of music.
Thank you so much for supporting our school's music program. For a school with no budget for instruments, any support is incredible. It is amazing to have every student in each grade level in the school fully participate in playing music. Thank you for supporting this project.”

Recorders for Elementary Music Students
Funded Jan 20, 2010My students are so grateful to you for your inspiring generosity that has resulted in 100 students playing recorder for the past several months. They have been thrilled to play their own instruments and have successfully learned a number of notes and songs. They enjoy taking care of their instruments and beg to learn new notes and rhythms each week during music class.
They have cultivated an appreciation for music that I am confident they will sustain for the rest of their lives. I am so happy that you have contributed to this project and the lives of my wonderful music students. Thank you so much!”
