Take Us To The Xylophone Zone!
Funded Mar 3, 2014Thank you for generously giving to my music classroom. My students were excited from the moment I revealed the xylophone to them and were very eager for a chance to try it out. It has been especially thrilling for my third grade students who, through DonorsChoose, have received recorders this year. Now the students who play recorder are accompanied by a student on the xylophone, giving everyone involved a sense of collaborate ensemble playing.
Receiving this xylophone boosted my teaching and the students' learning because teachers and students can all gain a lot from a new, fresh addition to the regular repertoire. I want you to know that this gift is well-used and will continue to be well-used for many years. You have made a big difference!”

Take A Look In A Music Book!
Funded Jan 27, 2014Thank you all so much for generously donating to this project. Thanks to you, my elementary music students have a much bigger music library and it is already getting plenty of use!
For the past month, my students have loved reading these new stories and learning about music from all over the world. These books have renewed their love of reading and music and have inspired a number of excellent questions about music in various cultures.
I know that these books will continue to be a beloved part of my music classroom for many years to come. Thank you so much for choosing our project.”

Third Grade Musicians Need Recorders!
Funded Dec 18, 2013Thank you so much for donating to "Third Grade Musicians Needs Recorders!" Thanks to you, 75 third grade students are now playing recorder every week in music class and loving the experience.
Traditionally, we have received funding from our school district to purchase recorders every fall for our third grade students. Since that budget was cut, I had 75 very disappointed children who had been expecting to explore recorder on my hands. They have been absolutely delighted and even though we've had these instruments for just a few weeks, the entire third grade has mastered "Hot Cross Buns" and "Mary Had A Little Lamb."
Thank you for encouraging these students to pursue music filled lives! It means the world to us.”

Stave Lap Boards For Learning Music Notes
Funded Oct 25, 2013Thank you for donating to this project. Teaching students the notes on the staff can feel dry and repetitive. Auditory and visual learning is important but absolutely nothing beats tactile learning. I am so thrilled with the excitement created by receiving these dry erase staff boards and markers.
My students were buzzing like bees when I started passing out their individual staff boards. They couldn't have been more tickled to be practicing the notes of the treble clef and sharing their creations with one another using these boards. They are loving their hands-on experience all the while expanding their musical knowledge.
Thank you so much for giving them a great kinesthetic learning tool! I know hundreds of children will get to enjoy them for many years to come.”

Funded Sep 29, 2013Thank you so much for contributing to this project! The children are all so excited to put on our production of Willy Wonka following our winter break.
Since we have not had our production yet, I posted pictures of second grade students practicing their oompa loompa songs and lines. As you can see from the photos, they are really enjoying themselves and are thrilled about the upcoming performance.
Thank you for your generosity. Thanks to you, 75 inner city kids will have the incredible experience of putting on a musical production. I know that they will always treasure the memory of their performance.”

Funded Sep 10, 2013Thank you so much for generously donating to our music rug project. Yesterday I unveiled our brand new music rug to a delighted group of bilingual second graders. As you can see from the pictures, they were quite enthusiastic to have it in the classroom and it was the subject of a lot of excited comments and discussion.
After having only had the rug for one school day, I can already see it will be put to good use. All the classes I held yesterday were brightened by our new addition. I feel it is so important to keep the classroom environment feeling warm and safe and this rug certainly helps us accomplish that. Thanks again! I can't wait to show it to the students I am teaching today.”

Supplies for General Music Class
Funded May 21, 2013Thank you all so much for your incredibly kind donations to my project "Supplies for General Music Class." It was so exciting to post this project and have it fully funded in a matter of weeks. Our materials arrived two weeks ago and have already been put to use, especially the book "I Can Sing, I Can Color," which includes templates of puppets to accompany six songs on the corresponding CD.
As a teacher, I am always looking for new, diverse material that I don't know yet. I am very much looking forward to listening to all of these new tracks with my students. Your generosity has given them a richer, fuller musical education experience. Thank you so very much.”

Funded Jan 17, 2012Thank you all so much for your generous donations! Your kindness has helped to instill a love of music and a feeling of confidence in many middle school students.
The songwriting workshop was a complete success. The students who attended experienced a wonderful lesson that taught them about the fundamentals of songwriting. I was amazed to hear the music the students were able to compose individually and in small groups and was deeply moved when I saw the pride that they took in their performances of these compositions.
Thank you for giving my students this gift. It was an experience they will always remember.”
