My students are 7th grade English and U.S. History students in a public school in CA. Since technology is so important, especially with the new Common Core State Standards, I let students use their own smartphones, tablets, and laptops to access the Internet, as we all do, in order to complete our work. Most of our students cannot afford such a device to take to school. This creates an issue of equity and this is where Chromebooks can help. All students need access to technology to help prepare them for high school, college, and career. State tests will be given on computers next year, and my students need to be ready to perform.
