Can't sit still? No problem in our classroom!
Funded Jan 9, 2019Thank you for your generous donations towards new flexible seating in my classroom. These seats are a game changer. I had seen them in other classrooms so I became curious about them. After reading a lot of research about flexible seating I was really interested in purchasing some for my classroom. I never would have been able to purchase on my own what you have so graciously donated. I never realized the immediate impact they would have on my students. Not only do they love them but they seem more relaxed and focused. My classroom feels like it has changed for the better!
When we first started placing the seating around the room the students were in amazement. They ran to the stools to try them out. They were explaining how the bands on the chairs felt by saying, "it's so comfortable being able to put your feet up"!
This type of seating has made my students so happy that I plan on getting creative and coming up with ways to make all of my seating flexible for my students. I appreciate your help in getting this project funded and my students and I are so grateful for you kindness.”

Playing is How We Learn in Kindergarten!
Funded Jan 7, 2019Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. It's because of you that I get to see a lot of happy faces each day during choice time. I have been teaching for 18 years and this is the first time I have had someone other than myself purchase play materials for my classroom. As you can imagine it gets quite costly to replenish these types of materials every few years. The toys that you helped me receive through your generous donations are colorful and bright, age appropriate, and durable. My students have enjoyed playing with them so much.
When the toys arrived they were in big brown boxes. I had the students sit on the edge of the rug and showed them the boxes. I explained that there were very thoughtful people that cared about their learning through play and wanted them to have new toys to play with. It was so exciting as we opened each box and took turns demonstrating how to use them and take care of them. We showed the students how to put them together and take them apart and where they would be stored. I knew they would be a big hit!
We will continue to use our new toys to learn through play, practice social skills, and how to safely use our beautiful new materials. I appreciate your donations so much and I will remember your kindness each time I see my students playing and having fun.”

Let the Wild Rumpus Start!
Funded Jan 5, 2019Thank you so much for all of the beautiful instruments. A Wild Rumpus has definitely begun in our classroom! We use our instruments every day and we have a musical parade around the perimeter of the school every Friday afternoon. We also brought our instruments to the MCAS pep rally that our school had and they were a big hit.
When the boxes first started arriving the students were so excited. At the end of the day we took them out and passed them around so the students could explore with them. We practiced how to use them and repeating beats that I made. Then they got a chance to take turns coming up with their own beats. Each day we use the scarves or ribbon sticks to dance to a song after our morning meeting.
This Friday we are having a music day in kindergarten. Each teacher will come up with a fun music activity to do with the students that rotate through their room. In my room the students will be learning a song about spring and using the instruments to sing it. We are also having a music day at the end of the school year that parents are invited to. My class will be performing We Will Rock You using our new instruments.
I am beyond excited to have these new materials in my classroom and I look forward to dancing and making music with my students each day. Thank you again for your generosity!”

Egg-actly What We Need to Learn About Hatching Chicks
Funded Dec 7, 2016The babies are here!!! The excitement built over 21 days as the children observed the eggs in the brand new incubator. They kept track each day about what was happening inside the eggs. We had a count down to the day of the hatch when 12 chicks emerged. The children got to observed the actual hatching during the school day as well as many other teachers and students. The whole school was excited. Thank you so much for providing me with a top of the line incubator and egg turner which enabled a successful hatch. The students learned so much about the life cycle of chickens and I know they will always remember this experience.”
