  • Never Met A Snack We Don't Like

    Funded Feb 5, 2020

The students have been snacking and spreading kindness. I wish you could be at our school and hear the comments from the students first hand, but since you can't I am going to quote a few of them. "Your snacks have given me life!" "I was on the brink of death, but now I feel alive, ready for IB History", "Thank goodness, I don't know how we ever did without a snack supply", "It's so nice that strangers believed in us enough to support our school."

The snack not only have helped with energy for learning, but the students are also required to write a nice comment about someone else in our school community. This has helped foster a kind and more reflective community.”

  • Family Engagement Is An Engagement We Want To See!

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

Wow! We cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Since receiving our computer we have been extremely busy creating content. We have created and distributed six professional levels newsletters to keep our families, students, and staff up to date on the latest school happenings to increase our engagements. We have created and posted ten bulletin announcements; including announcements about our School Bake Sales, Academic Teacher Parent Teams, Family Literacy Circles, ESL Classes, and that's just to name a few. Additionally, with iMovie, we have created five professional videos modeling student work so families and students can learn how to do various academic tasks! None of this would have been possible without the MacBook Pro and its programs all which you are responsible for bringing to us. We cannot thank you enough, you have truly helped increase our engagement and bring us closer together with our students and families.”

  • CS For Middle School Students! Help Our Youngins' Get Ahead!

    Funded Jul 17, 2017

Our CS Class is off to a fantastic start thanks to you. My middle schoolers are so excited and engaged with the curriculum and I am thrilled to be teaching them. We started the year with the hands-on lesson to make a PB&J and to model the importance of abstraction and sequencing in code. The students learned so much from this lesson and were so excited to visually see and realize how much we assume as humans, but we cannot make the same assumptions when writing code, to see the wheels in their brains moving and the excitement in their eyes was wonderful. We are so thankful for your generosity which made this possible.”

  • Student Authors Want to Publish Their Work & Need Your Help!

    Funded Mar 29, 2016

Hip Hip Hooray! We have so much to be grateful for!

1.) The end of the school year

    2.) Our passing grades #honorrollstatus

3.) Our awesome booklets & portfolio pieces!

We are so excited about our booklets and our published work. As the year ends it is very rewarding to have something, like our nicely bound booklets and portfolios, to take home to show our parents and friends what we have accomplished this year.

If we are honest it also motivated us to try a litter harder this last term, which we admit the struggle was real at some points, but because we knew our work was going to be published we pushed through and did our best! We love our booking binding machine, it was a little tricky to figure out at first, but now we've got it down pat! We can't get enough- we've asked our teacher to bind everything and have started asking other classes and teachers if they need us to bind their work or make student workbooks.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kai Hansen

  • Help Us Make Our School Beautiful

    Funded Mar 19, 2016

Hooray! Our cricut has arrived and we love it! We have already started to test it out; cutting letters and shapes. We are just about ready to make our first bulletin board and once we do we will be sure to post pictures so you can see.

We have been using our cricut after school and we have attracted a group of our peers who are also interested in helping us make our school beautiful. We have learned that once you have materials and something "cool" it really makes others want to particapte and get involved. It has been fun starting a club and we are really hoping that we can continue to grow our club into a real thing and that our school will be beautiful and no longer bare. We really can't thank you enough for the cricut and supplies.”

Thank you so very much for funding our student lead project! We are very excited for these supplies to arrive. We know they will help us conquer all of our June exams. It's crunch time! Thanks again for your support!”

My students are from the inner city of New York; the majority living in government housing or living with the assistance of some type of government support. They have duties and expectations apart from school; some include watching younger siblings, cooking for the family, or cleaning. Their lives allow them little time to grow up and little time for themselves. School is their chance to better their lives, but they need your help! Help them get ahead and make school their "happy place". Education is the key to the future and project based learning is a beneficial way for students to learn. My students struggle with technology and find assignments on PowerPoint and Word challenging, but the always persevere! After they have completed a technology component of the project they LOVE getting their hands dirty and being creative with posters! Having a project center allows them to express themselves and to show off what they have mastered both in content and in technology.
