Classroom Essentials
Funded Dec 16, 2022Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity to help my students grow!
I was able to create charts full of visuals and colors, and use my chart stands to show students resources. this has been truly an amazing opportunity to strengthen my students language abilities. For my younger ELL students, i was able to use stampers to help them blend sounds, as they are more tactile learners. Thank you for helping me have the appropriate materials to support my students. I was also able to laminate a vast number of activities for students to learn!”

There is nothing like having books in our physical hands. Thank you for granting us beautiful books that we can enjoy as a class! Funded Dec 30, 2016I am grateful for your generous donations made to our kindergarten classroom. All these materials have made a tremendous impact in my students lives. When students saw the big brown box arrive to the classroom, their eyes widened with curiosity. As they saw the dress up clothes come out of the box, their faces were priceless. They were overjoyed and ecstatic. Students were encouraged to ask questions about the roles there costumes played such as a mail man: what does he do? what does a chef do? etc. These new materials opened up the opportunity to teach students about community jobs surrounding us and their importance.
These new resources have served multiple purposes in our classroom. One activity we were able to successfully achieve, has been teaching about careers and jobs in Social Studies. In the lesson, students were allowed to dress up and research in a group the role of the person they were dressed as. Then they had to present who they are and what they do to the classroom. This was a fun and innovative way to encourage English Language learners to speak and use the language. An example of this, is a student dressing up as a chef. His group presented him as Chef; Jose. A chef cooks delicious food for people to eat. They work in restaurants and work with other people to help them. Students were able to learn more about jobs and how important they are in our community of growing learners.
Another benefit from your contribution has been the social and emotional development through play. Students enjoy going to play in the dress up area and engage in conversations. Theorist Vygostky believed children learned best through play and through language. This has certainly been the case in my classroom. All students pretend play and use language to communicate. They also have learned how to problem solve and take turns. The role playing has also allowed them to apply what they have learned about the career and job role in the pretend area. Children are more informed about who they are dressed up as and what they do for their community.
In the case of arts & crafts; students have absolutely enjoyed using their new pompoms in their activities. I have found multiple ways to use this resource in other content areas such as Math stations. Students are encouraged to use the pompoms to count and match one to one correspondence.
My next steps in the classroom is to work on using the pompoms to make groups of ten to count to 100! I want to encourage students to figure out different ways to make an art project with shapes and 100 pompons. This is our next exciting project!
Thank You for your donations and we are thankful for your generosity.
You have made a difference in our classroom and in our students lives encouraging children to continue exploring through play and arts & crafts!”
