  • New STEAM Room!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you all so much for your generous donation. We have already begun using the materials in our new STREAM room!

The students have received new stools which they love sitting on for our flexible seating. They have also received fidget toys for our cool down center. Students have also received materials and games for each center of our classroom to build projects.

One project that we have already completed with first grade was building nests because we were learning about parents and offspring. Second grade built houses for the three little pigs because they were learning about properties of materials. Third grade built aquarium displays with magnets. Fourth grade built solar ovens which we used outside to heat up s'mores. Fifth grade built constellations out of pretzels and marshmallows because they were learning about stars. These projects are just the beginning! We are so excited to use our new materials to continue learning and building new things!

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tonetti

  • Folders for Scholars!

    Funded May 11, 2023

Thank you so much for your very generous donation towards my project! I wanted students to have a folder where they can store their work and their projects in a safe place. I also wanted everyone to have uniform folder so they know specifically which color is social studies!

Your donation made this happen! Tomorrow is the first day of school and I cannot wait to show the students these folders that they are now all able to have.

This year we are going to focus on project based learning and really diving deep into maps and history. I cannot wait to see the student's faces when we show them where they can keep their ongoing work!

    Thank you again so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tonetti

  • Create a Cleaner Community!

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

We are so grateful to have this opportunity to have supplies to implement our STLE project. The students have already gone on their nature walk and noticed problems in the area that we can work on. Students have chosen garbage and littering as the main issue in the community. Students have been creating solutions to fix this issue and these project supplies will help students showcase the solution.

The students will be using these materials to create things online as well as in person. Students will also be showcasing and sharing the project with families at the end.

The students are especially excited for the podium to go up and share the project with the families!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tonetti

  • Snacks for Successful Scholars!

    Funded Nov 3, 2019

I cannot thank you all enough again for what you have given my students. Many of my students get to school late, miss the time for breakfast and we have lunch at 1:00P.M. Therefore, many of my students say their stomach hurts or their head hurts and they cannot focus. We try to have a whole class snack around 10:30 A.M. every day. The snacks that were purchased for my students allow us to give students snack during snack time if they cannot bring one from home AND it allows us to give them an extra snack in the morning if they miss breakfast as well. Students have also asked to bring a snack home and this gives us the opportunity to allow them to do so. Since the snacks have been in my classroom, I have noticed a change in my students. More students are focused and less students say their stomach or head hurts. The snacks that were purchased for my classroom are also healthy snacks which helps show students that the energy we receive from healthy snacks helps us more than the quick but not long lasting energy we receive from unhealthy snacks.

When the students saw the box of snacks being delivered into our classroom, they couldn't contain their excitement. I allowed some students to open the box and show the other students what we received and they were so excited! Some of my fifth graders have never tried some of the snacks that were given to us however, this allows them to find new healthy foods that they enjoy.

This gift has been exciting for my students and for me as well. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. You have given my students healthy snacks which helps them focus on being a successful student instead of focusing on their stomach or head pains. I have seen a change in them already and I am looking forward to the future!

Again, thank you for everything you gave to our classroom. We are so grateful for you!!”

    Mrs. Tonetti

  • Together We Can Make a Difference Through Literacy!

    Funded Sep 23, 2018

I cannot thank you all enough again for what you have given my classroom. The student in my classroom range in reading levels from far below grade level to above grade level. The students who are reading above grade level were unable to read books on their level for the whole first month of school. The only way a child sustains their level and moves beyond is by reading a variety of books on their level and the level above for at least 30-40 minutes everyday. When the students move up in levels the skills are very different and the only way to practice these skills is by reading.

When the students saw the box of brand new books for the first time they were thrilled. To see the excitement on their faces when they got to see the books absolutely touched my heart. These students are so special and will grow up to do great things. Every career needs a good foundation in literacy skills and I am so happy to teach these children these skills and beyond.

Again thank you for everything you gave to our classroom. We are so grateful for you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tonetti

My students are an amazing group of young individuals from a Title I school in Staten Island. Any adult that comes into contact with my class knows how special they are. I have 33 students in my class, 10 of them are Students with Disabilities and 12 of them are Multi-Language Learners. My students come from households that are mostly low income and many of them have difficulties at home due to other circumstances. Many students think of our school as their second home where they are able to come for consistency and stability. They are the founding class of our school and the entire staff is so incredibly proud of their accomplishments from Kindergarten to now 4th grade. I have taught the majority of these students in 2nd grade, 3rd grade and now again in 4th grade. I have been lucky enough to watch their learning blossom.
