Students will be using iPad applications to practice storytelling, phonics, reading strategies, and other components of literacy during ELA stations. In Science and Social Studies, a group of students will use the iPads in conjunction with library books to conduct research. For example, during a STEM investigation, students will research the structure of towers to design then build their own sturdy tower. iPads add a meaningful dynamic to learning. Because of that dynamic, they are going to be used throughout the day in our classroom. We are a low-income district so they will be the only other technology in the room aside from the teacher computer, giving direct learning access to the students. My students are ready to use 21st Century learning tools every day. With iPads, the obstacles that my students face are lessened and we can focus on the learning.
