  • Engaging Creativity in Science

    Funded May 13, 2019

My students are so engaged while learning with these markers. They love creating and being creative on the lab tables. They were so excited to be able to draw on the tables. All students in the group were participating and contributing to the models. We are able to use them for all different topics in science.

Next, we are going to use them to model atoms. They will draw different elements with their respective protons, neutron and electrons. We will also use them for food webs, food chains and food pyramids. The limit is endless on what we can use these markers for.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerlyn Prada

  • Guinea Pig Class Pet

    Funded Aug 29, 2018

The two guinea pigs were such a welcomed addition to our classroom. The large cage made it so much easier for the students to interact with them. The students love finishing their work and being able to carry them. They are researching more about guinea pigs and learning where they are native to.

The students were so excited when we received the packages from Amazon. They couldn't wait to put the cage together. They researched the best layout for the guinea pigs to have enough space to walk around, eat and sleep.

Our science classroom is always trying something new. Next, we want to order dry erase markers to draw and design on our lab tables. It is so motivating and engaging to use color and models to explain our thinking. We can't wait.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerlyn Prada

In our middle school science class, we are learning all about living things. Having a classroom pet brings the real world into our classroom. Our students learn responsibility by sharing the tasks needed to take care of our guinea pig. It also teaches them empathy and the needs of others besides themselves. My students fully engage with our class pet; they are less distracted and want to finish their work in order to get to carry and pet him. Having a class pet has built community. They are more aware of each other's feelings and needs. Having a larger living space for the guinea pig will mean more students can interact with him. The guinea pig will also have more toys to engage with.
