Crafty Cricut Club
Funded Sep 19, 2024We are so very grateful for your support! As the students become more familiar with the steps and routines of using the Cricut machine, they have demonstrated increased confidence and independence. The project has not only fostered creativity but has also empowered students to take ownership of their learning. Overall, the impact of this project has been profound, creating a positive and enriching environment where students thrive.
We are eager to expand our club to allow more students to participate and benefit from these hands-on experiences. These projects can help foster vocational skills, creativity, and confidence in high school special education students, preparing them for future employment opportunities.
Thank you for believing in us and giving us this opportunity to shine!”

Funded Oct 25, 2023What a wonderful gift you have given our students! We were so excited to receive our new chairs, we unboxed them right away and built them together. It felt like we were celebrating a birthday! We were very happy to hear we have some new prizes in our "Employee Store" as well, it has us working harder to earn our points.
Your very generous donation is helping to encourage perseverance, foster independence, and explore new opportunities.
We are so lucky to have you support us and cheer us on as we learn and grow. We are looking forward to continuing our learning in the lab and cheering each other on along the way.”

Funded May 24, 2023What a wonderful gift you have given our students! We were so excited to receive and unbox our Cricut iron and lightboard. It felt like we were celebrating a birthday!
Your very generous donation is helping to inspire creativity, foster independence, and explore new opportunities. Last year with our donated materials, we were able to make gifts for students' parents, create props for a school show, and design folders for a school function. Students smiled and laughed while participating in these projects, showing confidence and pure joy.
We are so lucky to have you support us and cheer us on as we learn and grow. We are looking forward to continuing our crafting and sharing our joy with others.”

Funded Aug 9, 2022What an amazing gift you have given us! Our new furniture has made our room complete!
You have helped our students to be more confident and comfortable in the classroom, allowing them access to alternative seating options and work areas. We are so excited to see them showing preference for different chairs and spaces in the room! The availability of these items has also increased student interaction and communication - they are learning to ask for breaks and take turns with the materials.
We would love to continue adding to our collection so we can see our students become even more independent and engaged. We will always think of you when we use our materials!”

Funded Jun 15, 2022What a very special and unique gift you gave us! We love using our new Cricut machine!
So far this school year, we have learned to load the paper, press the flashing buttons on the machine, and carefully remove material from the sticky mats. We have been practicing these skills by making bulletin board diecut letters for our classroom. We have had so much fun learning new skills and making our room beautiful!
Moving forward, we plan to open up a little school worksite where we will take orders and create bulletin board decor for other teachers!
We will always think of you and be grateful as we share our creative talents with our family, friends, and school community.”

Big Items to Make a Big Difference!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Making the classroom comfortable and accessible for our special needs students is so important. They need to feel calm and confident in order to learn. The furniture that was donated to us has made our room more organized and more engaging. The students can sit at their new table comfortably without their legs hitting the top of the desk. The stool gives them a place to sit when they share their work with their peers with pride. The whiteboard brings lessons closer to them so that they can better see the material and interact with hands-on materials.
All of the students in my room rely on technology to speak, they each have a communication device on a tablet. Because they are so used to and motivated by technology, we use a lot of curriculum applications that present material in exciting ways. The laptop gives us the opportunity to allow a student to complete their work in an area of the room that is most comfortable for them. They enjoy being able to sit in their favorite spot and access their activities. They also are learning to use the keyboard to type!
Part of my teaching philosophy is to expose my students to as much as possible and to provide them with new and exciting experiences every day. YOU have helped me to do that this school year! When I look at my classroom, I will always remember your care, concern and generosity. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!”

Funded Dec 8, 2016Your generosity has provided our classroom with a wonderful resource, we were able to obtain a box of Landform and Mapping Materials! Social Studies, especially geography, is a challenging area to teach to students with severe cognitive disabilities. Our students rely heavily on visual supports and prior knowledge when learning new concepts, and attempting to educate them about places around the world becomes very abstract.
The materials provided in this fantastic Lakeshore Box allow them to use their senses to better understand the difference between a valley and a mountain. The pictures of Mount Fuji in Japan help them explore a place they have never seen before. We have already used these materials to aid in lessons about maps, oceans and habitats. I am looking forward to using them for many years to come!
Once again, thank you for helping my students to explore the world around them and become excited about Social Studies!”

Stuff Our Shelves!
Funded Sep 7, 2016The new texts have brought so much happiness into our room! Our students are excited for guided reading time and are eager to explore new topics. Many of them have shown increased engagement and attention since September. We have been learning new vocabulary words, increasing the length of our conversations and working more independently.
Independent reading time in our room used to be a struggle, we did not have many non-fiction topics to choose from. Providing the students with a choice during independent reading time has made a tremendous difference. The students are now eager to choose new books and looking through all the new options.
I love the smell of an old library book, it reminds me of my elementary school library and brings back many fond memories. Our student Chris, however, loves the smell of new books! He makes sure to test each new book as he takes it off the shelf!
Thank you again for your support!”
