  • Broadening Horizons Through Virtual Reality

    I'm am so grateful to all of you who contributed to my Virtual Reality Project. This technology is being used to introduce my students to material in new and exciting ways. The students are mind-blown by the ability to literally travel anywhere and immerse themselves in text relevant experiences. They are so enthusiastic to have the opportunity to use such a new technology. They are more engaged than ever to dive into lessons; finding Virtual Reality content which correlates with our subject-matter. Each of my donors has a special place in my heart, because you have made dreams become reality. Thank you!”

    This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and 18 other donors.
This virtual reality camera and headsets will help expose my students to places and subject matter they may not be able to experience otherwise. The Virtual World gives me a platform to go deeper into text and allow students to see what they are learning about, visit the habitats, travel the world, and cultivate discovery, all without leaving the classroom. Students will have the ability to study anatomy or embryonic development from within the body or visit the Great Wall of China while studying World Geography. The ability to jump into subject matter would be priceless. The 360 camera will turn our class and fieldtrips into a virtural canvas. We can take groups on varying trips on a specific subject, video the trip in 360 and share our varying experiences with the other groups through the the Oculus VR goggles. The combination of the Oculus and 360 camera will serve as gateway to a world of endless exposure. To students who have never had the oppurtunity to experience VR the experience itself will serve as an eye opening experience.
