Books, Glorious Books!
Funded Oct 12, 2023From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for donating to our classroom and helping us reach our goal so quickly! I recently joined the P.S. 45 community and I am so grateful for your support with my first Donors Choose project at this school. I plan on doing many more to get supplies and build up my classroom library even further.
The students are so excited to read these books! The books we received are a bit above their current reading levels so they are eagerly waiting to be able to read the books. Their anticipation is building and building!
Again, thank you so much for your support.”

Funded Feb 11, 2023Thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating to fully fund our project for books in my classroom. My students love to read all kinds of books: Realistic Fiction, Fantasy, Biographies, and Informational texts. Students have used these books to identify and describe character traits, understand how characters interact with one another, and discover the life lessons that books can teach. They have also learned amazing new facts in their Non-Fiction books that have added to their prior knowledge of the topic.
The students have mainly used the Dog Man books to write literary essays. In Writing, the students chose a book and developed a claim about a character's traits, feelings, relationships, motivation, or how they've changed throughout the book. Many students in the class used a book from the Dog Man series to complete this task. They enjoyed it so much!
Thank you, again, for spreading the love of reading and (re)introducing my class to books they already love and new series.”

Easel and Books!
Funded Oct 19, 2021Thank you so much for your donations and contributions to our classroom fundraiser. The easel is gorgeous and we use it everyday! It is an integral part of the classroom. The children were so excited when it was all put together! The easel is very tall, which helps the students who are in the back of the classroom. Since we have to sit in rows this year due to social distancing, having a tall easel is essential to daily classroom activity.
The books are favorites in the class. The children are learning about new topics in their non-fiction books. They also love the new additions of the Geronimo Stilton series to our classroom library.
Thank you, again, for making our classroom a success!”

Make an Informed Decision: Help Us Learn!
Funded Jan 3, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations that allowed me to get these Non-Fiction Books for my classroom! After showing each book to the class, they were eager to dive right in and start reading. These Non-Fiction books provide an abundance of information within a variety of topics that engages every student in my class! The bin with the "Who Is/Was" series is already empty and they love the visuals in the books by Gail Gibbons!
In May, our reading unit is called "Research Clubs". It is very important for children to learn how to research in books. These books will provide excellent resources for the unit, where students need to read, interpret, and represent information.
My class loves to read independently and they love to learn about new topics. The Math and STEM Readers allows my class to think about everyday ideas, concepts, and objects in a new way!
My children love learning and they are so appreciative for these beautiful books. Your donations has allowed me to fuel their love for reading and learning and I am so grateful! Thank you, again, for donating!”

Chromebooks: A Connection to the World and Beyond!
Funded Mar 17, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations to support the learning in my classroom. The Chromebooks have been a tremendous addition to my classroom. The students have used the Chromebooks during Choice Time to practice math facts, watch videos, and research different topics. During the next Writing Unit, I plan on having children type their ideas instead of handwriting them.
In addition to exposing the children to a variety of concepts and ideas, the Chromebooks are teaching the children how to be digitally literate. Knowing how to use a computer, navigate the Internet, and type on a keyboard are essential skills that the children now have an opportunity to develop.
Again, I can't express my gratitude enough for your generous donations. These Chromebooks will not only benefit the students during this school year, but will improve the education of children for years to come.”

Ms. Lamonte's Classroom Centers Upgrade
Funded Jun 7, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you for completing my project! I was able to start off the new school year with enriched Science and Social Studies Centers for my students! As soon as my students saw the Simple Machines Kit, they immediately opened it and started to build a design. My students also loved the Primary Source Posters and enjoyed looking at the different blueprints of inventions.
The Heavy Duty Storage Bins are perfect for holding my students' book baggies. With 32 students, I definitely needed the extra storage space and durable bins.
I'm so glad that these items will be a part of my classroom for years to come. They will allow children to indulge their own curiosities and engage their learning.”

Ms. Lamonte's Library Upgrade!
Funded Feb 25, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donations that allowed me to get these Non-Fiction Books for my classroom! After showing each book to the class, they were eager to dive right in and start reading. These Non-Fiction books provide an abundance of information within a variety of topics that engages every student in my class! From learning about inventors through graphic novels to learning about the "Inside of a Bakery", this set of books appeals to every learner in my classroom!
In the beginning of the year, second graders study the Non-Fiction text features and why these features are essential to these types of books. Students learn how to use these features appropriately and effectively. These books will help my students understand that books on different topics can still follow a similar format with a table of contents, headings, sub-headings, a glossary, and index.
In April, children are grouped into Non-Fiction Book Clubs. The students in a book club read different books on the same topic and have discussions about main ideas, text connections, and information. These books will provide the book clubs with even more resources on their topics!
My children love learning and they are so appreciative for these beautiful books. Your donations has allowed me to fuel their love for reading and learning and I am so grateful! Thank you, again, for donating!”

Help Ms. Lamonte Get a Document Camera for Her Class!
Funded Dec 21, 2015Thank you so much for donating to my project! The Document Camera has been an extremely useful tool in my classroom and has revolutionized my teaching! I have used this Document Camera at least twice a day since I've received it.
The Document Camera has provided students with an instantaneous way to display their work. During math, students have put their work under the Document Camera to show and explain their strategies to the entire class. I also demonstrate how to draw various three-dimensional shapes.
In Reading and Writing, I've displayed books by mentor authors to demonstrate various reading strategies and writing styles. As I read books to the class in Social Studies, I am able to project photographs onto my SMART Board using this technology.
A group of students even used the Document Camera during a group presentation! A group of students researched Panda Bears and developed a board game to demonstrate their new knowledge. The students placed their game under the Document Camera to enlarge it for the whole class to see!
The students and I will continue to use this equipment for the rest of the school year and for many more years to come!”
