Reinforcing Math
Funded May 3, 2022Thank you so much for donating the educational math games and puzzles to my class. I have 2 groups of 3rd graders that I teach everyday and they have a variety of educational needs that must be addressed to get them on grade level. I asked for items that help reinforce skills needed for the rest of their lives, like fractions, multiplication, counting money, and solving word problems.
My class was super excited to see the new games and puzzles and could not wait to play them. The first time I let them use them, they organized themselves in groups and worked together. It was really nice because I did not tell them to work in groups they decided that on their own. And I was really proud of the way they worked together, shared and took turns. They didn't even realize they were learning at the same time. Now they can't wait to finish their assignments so they can play one of the games.
Thank you once again for giving my class the tools they need to be successful in third grade and beyond. May God continue to bless you and your family!”

Funded May 18, 2019Thank you so much for donating to my class. We really appreciate the Kleenex, Brawny paper towels, pencil sharpener, and hand sanitizer. My project was funded at the end of the school year, so we still had most of the items for this school year. This year I looped with my class, so I had them for second grade and now I have them again for third grade. Therefore, everything that was donated last [school] year is still benefiting them today. 😊
I was very relieved that we were able to start the year with plenty of hand sanitizer, paper towels, and facial tissues. Even though, the year just started we are already running out of supplies in the bathroom, and have runny noses. I'm glad we are able to start of the year with everything we need to have a healthy and comfortable classroom.
Shorty after my new pencil sharpener arrived, the old sharpener's motor gave out. The X-Acto sharpener couldn't have arrived at a better time! We now spend less time sharpening pencils, and more time learning and engaging in our lessons.
It's always the little things that mean so much and makes such a big difference in children's lives. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this year a great one!”

Funded Nov 4, 2017Thank you so much for donating much needed snacks and hygiene products to my class. As usual, in the wintertime many of my students have gotten colds. I am very grateful that they have all the Kleenex they need to keep them as comfortable as possible, as they get well. I'm also very thankful for the Germ-X sanitizer you donated to my classroom. It has been imperative in preventing the spread of germs. Most of my students just love volunteering to clean the classroom with Clorox Disinfecting wipes, another helpful tool in keeping our classroom healthy.
I also thank you for the paper towels. We frequently run out of them in the bathrooms at the school I work at. The paper towels are very convenient for hand drying and cleaning up little spills that second graders tend to make.
Lastly, I would like to thank you for the snacks you donated to my students. They are mega excited for the end of the day because they know they'll have a snack to take home with them. Many of my students do not eat on a regular schedule outside of school and it is very comforting to know they can count on your snacks to help them make it to their next meal.”

STEM Learning Fun!
Funded Oct 25, 2017Thank you so much for donating the STEM learning materials to my classroom. My students were so excited to see all the new hands-on activities. They were really excited to discuss what were in the boxes and how you could use them. Plus all of the STEM sets, requires them to stop and think about the right course of action and how to create the right tools. It made the activities a much more memorable and meaningful learning experience.
I really like how the students had to work together to figure out how to build a bridge or how to rescue the bear from the well for example. I did not help them at all. I just gave them the directions and let them figure out how to solve the problem on their own. Not only were they able to work together, but they were able to create something, test to see if it worked, and rebuild if it did not work the first time. My students were fully engaged the whole time and were able to rely on each others directions and insight, instead of me guiding them to the right solution.
Thank you so much for bringing the engineering experience to my classroom. Before receiving the STEM Learning kits, my students did not have an opportunity to design, and build their own structures and tools. This has really encouraged them to think outside the box. I like how they're learning through trial and error, which promotes mental growth. I also hope this creates some future engineers. My students can see that they can also build and design amazing structures and that it's okay to make mistakes because you can just tear it down, try a new strategy and rebuild. Thank you once again!”

Funded Jun 29, 2017Thank you so much for the gift of learning. My class is extremely excited about the Equivalent puzzles, so far we have used the Numbers and Operations puzzle and it has really helped my class to think outside the box when finding multiple ways of getting the same answer (a common core standard). The kids think they are just playing a game, but actually are increasing their knowledge. I also use the Basic Math Skills grade 2 workbook on a weekly basis. It not only has my students performing simple task like adding and subtracting but it also has them thinking critically because they sometimes use their answers to solve riddles and puzzles. If they don't get the right answer they have to go back and figure out how and where they've gone wrong. They are learning their math facts and don't even know it. I'm very excited that I will have a fun way to commit each unit to memory with the Equivalent puzzles (ex. time, money, fractions) and that science is more meaningful because I have journals to help engage my students with critical thinking. Thank you so much for giving my students the tools they need to be successful at this stage and the next.”
