Choice-Based Art Putting Students in Power!
Funded Jun 19, 2019Thank you once again for making our classroom an even more exciting place to learn. Students were thrilled to see the neon oil pastels, and have already planned a special black-light booth to display their work at our end-of-year art show. They helped us learn new ways of shading and blending, and we are continuing to explore their possibilities.
Another exciting thing we are exploring is the types of photos made possible with the use of prisms. We had great discussions about color and light refraction based on students' observations when shining their cell-phone flashlights through prisms, and taking photographs through the prisms. This led to some "Ah-ha!" moments connecting with their work in Physics.
Perhaps less thrilling, but more impactful in the every day of our room, are the new storage solutions you helped us acquire. Students are enjoying having all-the-time access to a variety of art papers to experiment with and realize their ideas. We are seeing a big burst of creativity already! The rolling paper bin has allowed them to work bigger and know that their work will be safe when they return.
Thank you for being part of our village, and helping to give these students access to a rich and multifaceted arts education! We couldn't do it without you.”

Bringing Art to Every Corner of Our Community
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for helping to improve the technology supports in our classroom! With the Artograph projector your donations provided, my students are able to accurately enlarge artwork for murals and other large pieces. The projector is small and very technologically advanced, which allows us the flexibility to work on difficult to reach or oddly shaped spaces. It even connects wirelessly to our phones so we can transfer artwork easily!
The most exciting part about the new projector for my students is how accessible it is for them to use. In the past we have had to borrow a projector from Sober Grad Night that is very heavy and fragile and requires cords to function, which was stressful and limited our range. The new projector is small and simple enough for the students to set up on their own, which has increased the number of large pieces we are attempting.
The vice president and secretary of our art club have seen us through the painting of three murals now (they are both seniors) and they adore the new projector. They were able to fully spearhead our latest project, from creation of the drawings to projection and painting, with minimal oversight from me. They are nearing the end of their K-12 experience, and our new projector is granting them an independence in their artwork that they can carry into college and beyond...out into that wider community we were hoping to impact with art!”

Funded Oct 14, 2017Thank you so much for your generosity. I could not have imagined the impact on my students of something as simple as seat cushions! They adore them, and the full set is in use each class period. Some put them on our uncomfortable stools, some use them to facilitate working on the floor, and once a student who was feeling under the weather was able to get some rest in (despite not being able to go home.)
The Sharpies have already been used to draw lots of anime, and my students are really looking forward to using the anatomical models and clay in projects this semester. We have used the tempera for face-painting at football games, which has become a hit not only in our community but with the teams we play against! We have also used the paints for printing stamps we carved from erasers.
My students were truly moved that people in our community and beyond were willing to donate to our classroom and their positive experience with the arts. Your generosity has them standing a little taller, with the feeling that many people are invested in their success.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Eden
