A Good Book Read Will Keep Knowledge in Their Head!
Funded Sep 10, 2019I cannot express enough how grateful we are as a class for your generosity. The students love having the diverse books that cover different cultures and values. I especially like the variety of reading levels provided by these books. My students are encouraged to pick books that are a good fit. This means that when they read, they should be able to read most of the words but have a few challenging words to use their phonetic skills on. If they don't miss any words, they should pick a more challenging book. If they miss to many, they are going to get frustrated and not enjoy the book. So, if they miss two to three words in a page, it is a good fit book that they will enjoy.
The eyes of each student lit up when I showed them the package of books. We were in need of new material and definitely culturally diverse material. The students read each morning during guided reading time and they have free reading in the afternoon as well as when they finish an assignment. These books will ensure they have material to enjoy for a long time.”

Yes, You Can Wiggle While You Learn... Seated
Funded Aug 14, 2018My students were thrilled to see and use the alternative seating. I have several who are squirmy and they love the ability to rock, wiggle and sway while staying focused. The other students like the opportunity to have comfortable cushions as opposed to the hard seats all day.
The biggest impact I have seen is how much the active students are on task without even realizing they are wiggling. These stools and cushions are a blessing. The students use the cushions and stools at their desks throughout the day and away from their desks while in guided reading groups such as read to self.
As a class, we are all thankful for what your donations have provided. Having people that care enough about education and the students means everything.”
