If I could describe my classroom in just a few words, they would be: engaging, rigorous, and supportive. Regardless of the Title 1 label, I set high expectations within my classroom and I have been blessed with students whom rise to the occasion. Taking the time to know my students well, not just as learners, but also as people has helped to create a real sense of belonging in our shared space. No matter the obstacles they face outside the class, they strive to be the best they can be every single day. My hope is to not only create a community of students willing to take risks, but to create an environment which supports all styles of learning. After a decade of teaching, my goal is to create a room full of flexible seating options and incorporate that into the new personalized learning cohort my team will pilot for our school next year.
