  • A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

    Funded Dec 8, 2011

Thank you so much for your donations! Our new camera arrived just in time for our 100th Day celebration. I was able to take some really great photos of the children. I have begun to use photos of my students for our Big Question board display each week. Right now, we are learning about our Neighborhood and last week I took a bunch of photos of the children in the community worker dress-up clothes. The children were so excited to see their photo on our thematic concept board. We also had a wonderful Dr. Seuss literacy night and I used our camera to take photos of the children and families who came to the event. I know I will be using this camera for years. Thank you so very much for your generosity and support.”

  • Alphabet Soup

    Funded Dec 8, 2011

Thank you so much for bringing these wonderful materials to my classroom. The alphabet sound tubs are a fantastic tool for my students to learn vocabulary and initial sounds during our phonemic awareness and phonics lessons each week. Our language arts reading program comes with photos cards to help with vocabulary development, but having this set of miniature objects to that correspond to our initial sound cards has really been motivating for my who are English language learners. The snap and build letters has really motivated my students to learn to spell the sight words during independent centers. You have given my students such a gift by providing them with these fabulous hands-on learning centers. I can honestly say that our phonics and word play center has become a favorite for many of kindergartners. Thank you for your support and your generosity!”

  • I Like To Move It Move It Part 2

    Funded Dec 10, 2011

My students have absolutely loved the materials from this project. We use the easy catch toss balls almost every week for P.E. and the bristle builders and crystal builders are two of their favorite centers on the rainy days. I open the tunnel and put it on the rug on rainy days and the kids take turns crawling through it. One of my students actually asked me if we could open it up and put it in the library so they could lay inside and read in it. Thank you so much for your generosity and support. My students have really enjoyed getting active and P.E. has become one of their favorite subjects. Thanks for bringing this project to life!”

  • Welcome to Kindergarten

    Funded May 15, 2011

Thank you so much for these wonderful materials. They were instrumental in helping me to start off the year. The children loved their name tags. We use the pocket to put a color card in the back which helps the children know when group they will work with each day. Also, for those students who are not yet able to write their name, it's a great visual support. As we began to talk about school and making friends, the kids used the dolls to dress and decorate them as themselves. They are a great addition to our room environment. The twist up crayons are a big hit when we are illustrating our journals. The children love to search for the ones that have sparkles. Thank you again for your generosity and support. ”

  • I Like To Move It, Move It

    Funded May 21, 2011

Thank you so much for bringing this project to life! My students are absolutely crazy about the giant bowling game and the easy toss and catch sets. It has made P.E. so much fun. They can't wait to move around to the different centers I set up with all these wonderful gross motor games. The magnetic designers and cards have really provided a great opportunity for my students to learn to continue to try to complete something even when it is challenging. They are so proud of themselves when they finally make complete the picture. One of my students today explained to me that he had to change the color magnet he used for his door because he ran out of red like what was in the picture. I was amazed at how such a simple game has really inspired problem solving and perseverance. Thank you for your generosity and support!”

  • I Have Something In My Pocket

    Funded May 21, 2011

Thank you University of Phoenix for you donation to bring this project almost home. My students have LOVED the short vowel game. One of my students who has been a struggling reader has totally come alive and asks to play this game all the time. It is allowed her to feel successful and now her reading has totally improved. The materials from this project have really motivated my students to have fun while learning. The 100's chart made it so much easier to teach skip counting and patterning. My kids love the game we play where I remove one of the numbers and they have to figure out what is missing. Thank you so much for your support!”

  • Just Hangin'

    Funded May 13, 2011

My students have absolutely love using this closet in our pretend center. I can now leave our uniforms, helmets, and dress-up props out for them to use and the children can quickly put all the clothes away neatly once it is time to clean up. They especially love the mirror on the side of the closet. They are enjoying looking at themselves out to see how they look in their costumes. We even had fun decorating the giant box that is arrived in. The kids turned it into a drive thru restaurant. I really appreciate your generosity and support in making learning fun for all my students.”

  • Shhhhh....ip....Ship Let's Make A Word Family

    Funded May 15, 2011

Thank you all so much! This project was full of wonderful hands-on learning materials for my students. As soon as the boxes arrived, we opened them up and used many of the word games during small group rotations that day. My students absolutely loved spinning the word wheels to see which words came up the most. It was wonderful to see how they worked in partners to make sure they could all read the words on their board. The word family sliders are a great follow up activity to my making word lessons. The have really made the kids feel like successful readers!I am using the magnetic board with magnetic letters to mix up the letters of the word of the day. It really has become a very convenient tool. Thank you so much for your generosity and support and for helping to make learning to read so much fun for all my students!”

  • A Cozy Corner

    Funded May 15, 2011

Thank you so much for bringing this project to life. My students are so excited to go to the library and sit in their very own cozy bean bag chair. They are big enough for even adults to sit in and read the children a story. The book bins have been a wonderful addition to helping us keep our books organized in categories. I also use the bins for work that is completed, work that needs to be filed, and projects that are waiting to be displayed. You can never have enough bins. The Question of the Day has been so much fun. Each morning when the children come into class we use one of the questions to begin the day. The children vote and it becomes a mini math lesson. We apply so many skills in just this one simple routine. The children are using one-to-one correspondence, counting, greater than, less than, and estimating knowledge. It has become something that the children look forward to. They are asking me about the question of the day as we walk in from lining up. Thank you so much for your generosity and support!”

  • A Piece of the Puzzle

    Funded May 13, 2011

We were so excited to open the boxes of this project when they arrived. We are just beginning our animal unit in science and the finishing up plants and insects. The children were amazed at how real the animals appeared on the puzzle pieces. The butterfly, ladybugs, tiger, and owl seemed to be the favorites. Normally the children go to the puzzle table in partners during our rotations, but the kids were so excited to unwrap them I let them work on the rug. The kids worked together and traded with classmates when they finished a puzzle to immediately begin working on another one. I know these puzzles will be such a wonderful addition to our hands-on, puzzle table and that my students will enjoy them for years and years. Thank you so much for your contribution and generosity! ”
