  • Have a Seat, Please

    Funded Apr 7, 2025

What a difference chairs make to the atmosphere of our classroom! My students are now able to sit in comfortable seating, in a business like atmosphere. This setting will enable them to meet with their peers and clients as they would in the business world.

Your donation sets my students up for future success in the real world, not just the classroom world. Thanks!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nelson

  • Table for Two

    Funded May 8, 2024

Thank you so much for our chairs and your donation. With your help, we were able to purchase two more matching chairs for our 4 tables. We are ALMOST complete with chairs to accompany our drafting tables! Our room is beginning to look professional rather than old and worn out. We could not achieve this without your help and support.

We hope to purchase more chairs the next time there are matching funds. Please look to see if you wish to help us at that time.

Thanks again from all of my new chair kiddos and from me!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nelson

  • Spread Good Cheer Throughout the Year

    Funded Jan 18, 2024

Thank you for your generosity. My students were so excited to get the supplies for our Glowforge and begin designing and producing gifts. They have made earrings, key rings, and plaques to sell, and the response has been wonderful.

The earrings were the biggest hit! It was near Valentines day, and they crafted leopard print hearts, printed them, and then used jewelry findings to finish. We sold out of these as word of mouth spread quickly through the hallways! After Valentine's day, a student designed and printed "faith" earrings. We are still selling those!

With the funds raised we were able to pay for 2 students to attend a national conference that they would not otherwise been able attend due to financial considerations. We were able to help a few others with meals for that conference.

Without your generosity to buy these supplies, these students would have missed out on a wonderful educational opportunity. Thank you for the blessings!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nelson

  • Be Kind to Our Everyday Heroes!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

My students wanted to show their appreciation for the hardworking heroes in their lives, their teachers, during the holiday season and throughout the year by using our classroom technology to express their gratitude while learning new skills!

Using a newly acquired GlowForge and their Computer Aided Design software, students constructed gifts to present to teachers during our annual Christmas Spa Day, an entire day of much needed pampering and stress reducing activities , including massages, hot chocolate, and Christmas donuts!

The biggest hit was the laser engraved cutting board! Students obtained handwritten recipes from mothers, grandmothers, etc. and used the GlowForge to engrave the handwritten recipe onto a bamboo cutting board. The teachers were overwhelmed!

We could not have done it without your support. Thank you so much.”

  • Prints Charming - Maximum Impact

    Funded Oct 24, 2023

Because of your generosity, and matching grant donation from The Allstate Foundation, my students are able to bring their imaginative designs to life on a wide array of materials. Students are experimenting with unique ideas, aesthetics, and applications, fostering innovation through creative freedom.

The skills they are learning will make a meaningful difference in our communities.

They have designed a logo to wear to our national conference, and are using the equipment you helped provide to produce custom apparel for our class to wear at conference. We hope soon to merge their entrepreneurial ambitions with community service, designing and printing t-shirts for others, developing a sense of pride in their community and a desire to help others.

This fusion of creative innovation, community service, and financial literacy empowers students to make a meaningful impact on society while gaining practical insights into financial responsibility. The printer and press will provide a canvas for their innovative activities, allowing them to transform their ideas into tangible products. Moreover, their commitment to community service through these ventures illustrates the potent combination of entrepreneurship and social responsibility. As students continue to explore the possibilities of sublimation printing, they are not only building valuable skills but also creating a more vibrant and connected society.

We thank you for your support and your generosity to our project.”

  • On the Edge of Their Seats

    Funded Sep 2, 2023

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the chairs you generously provided for our classroom. Your support and dedication to our shared mission of making a difference in the education sector is truly remarkable, and these chairs will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the learning environment.

The quality and functionality of the chairs are outstanding, and they have already made a noticeable difference in our classroom. Our students now have comfortable and ergonomic seating, which enhances their focus and engagement in the learning process. Your thoughtful contribution has not only improved the physical comfort of the classroom but also contributed to the overall educational experience for our students.

Your willingness to collaborate and invest in our educational efforts demonstrates your commitment to our shared goals. It is partners like you who enable us to create a positive impact and foster an environment that promotes learning and growth. We deeply appreciate your support and the trust you have placed in us.

Once again, thank you for your invaluable contribution.”

  • YOLO---Livestream It!

    Funded Sep 13, 2022

Your support has enabled us to bring events on campus to patrons in our district. In the era of Covid, many of our supporters for our athletic, academic, and veterans events are unable or unwilling to attend events they previously had access to.

With the YOLOBox Pro, our students are able to livestream events using multiple camera angles, switch back and forth from one angle to another, and produce a quality product much like a television station.

Students are excited to learn this technology, and some are rethinking "life choices" when they graduate. New doors have been opened, not only in a technology field, but also in communications, public speaking, etc. My students have exhibited problem solving skills, have integrated more sophisticated resources, learned team-working and collaboration skills, and realized a purpose for learning. These skills will enable them to not only jump into the work force, but also to apply these skills and resources in other classes and other areas.

Again, thank you for your support!”

  • A Cinderella Story

    Funded Aug 23, 2022

My students used the products we received through Donors Choose to design, paint, and furnish a formal clothes closet for our students.

Because we are in a low-income district, many of our students find themselves unable to participate in prom, homecoming, and other formal events because there is no money at home to purchase attire and accessories they might need for these events.

Many students were blessed to be able to participate because of our clothes closet. This EAST project that my students undertook recently allowed several girls to participate in our recent homecoming. Dresses, shoes, jewelry, ties, suits, and purses are in the closet, and clients were able to browse at their convenience, try on items, and make a decision all while on our campus. This eliminated the need to find a ride/drive back to campus after school.

Thank you, again, for your blessings! My students could not have undertaken this project without your support.”

  • Building Up STEAM

    Funded Jun 9, 2022

The Lego building elements, Lego Essentials & Spike Prime, were a big hit with my students! Through "play" students are building confidence, resilience, and skills that are vital to their future success. My students are engaged, thinking critically, solving complex problems, and working together! They are innovating and having fun.

Students who don't always get along worked together to solve a problem. Our fall festival is on the horizon, and students designed games to "play" at the fall festival. Their mini golf game was a great hit, and students were able to program a hole in one fairly quickly. It was wonderful seeing the collaborative atmosphere of the students.

They've also discovered that "coding" can be fun! Because IT is such a large portion of the job market, this activity helped them think outside the box about careers they could go into after high school.

Again, thank you so much for helping my students Build Up STEAM!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nelson

  • No Stone Unturned

    Funded Aug 4, 2021

With your support, my students have been able to progress on this project. Students have had to use their critical thinking skills and self-directed learning to learn how to use the unmanned aerial system AND to find the right program to take what they have recorded in the cemetery to make an augmented reality.

Students have discovered some of the rich history in our area, and have collaborated with persons they might not normally have collaborated with due to this project and the funding of the UAS. The digital reconstruction of the cemetery will be a featured display in the Museum, drawing attention to our EAST program as well as the students who are working on this team. Confidence in themselves has blossomed, as well as their interpersonal skills from working with others outside their norm. The crew already has another request for the UAS to map construction work happening in our district.

We travelled to a large EAST program to learn about another project, and during the time we were there my students were able to explain their project and how they will use the UAS to make the cemetery accessible to everyone, not just the landowner.

Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts for your funding of our drone.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nelson

EAST is an interactive, student-driven classroom. Multiple students are learning about, researching tutorials, and working on multiple projects at the same time. Modern technology has revolutionized the way students engage in community service, making it more interactive and impactful than ever before. With the advent of digital platforms and communication tools, students can connect with community members, organize events, and share their experiences seamlessly. This technology not only enhances the efficiency of community service initiatives but also allows students to create more engaging and interactive projects. As a result, my EAST students today have a unique opportunity to leverage technology to bridge gaps, inspire change, and foster a sense of unity within their communities, ultimately redefining the way they approach and contribute to community service.
