A variety of reading materials makes a literacy-rich classroom which helps to promote reading for all students at home and school. With your donation, my first graders will receive personal copies of Time for Kids, Scholastic News, and Science Spin magazines. These magazines will be introduced in whole group lessons during Science and Social Studies as well as incorporated into reading and health lessons when applicable. Students enjoy being relaxed when they read. They spend too much time at their tables or at whole group lessons. I would appreciate flexible seating options for my first graders when they are at their Independent Reading Center. My students will be thrilled to choose from a variety of comfy spots in the classroom to read independently or with reading buddies! The ABC carpet will be located in our classroom library. My students are learning how to use letters and their sounds to make new words so the ABC carpet is the perfect choice for our classroom library. What child wouldn't love to collapse into a big bean bag chair to read?! The flexible wobble discs are perfect for students who need to fidget and rock while reading. Lastly, the elapsed timer allows the children to see how much time they have to read during their center time. The 12" timer is easy for the students to see and the red shows them how much time they have left. It's a simple way to help my first graders manage their time. The seat sacks are where they will store their magazines until the end of the week when it is time to take them home. The sacks will provide a safe spot to keep their magazines until they go home at the end of each week.
