  • Sensational Sensory Supplies

    Funded Jan 31, 2019

Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations. We are so excited to have new sensory supplies for our class. We love the floating letter bubbles for working on letter recognition while getting the water sensory input. We also love our new light table tray for playing with the sensory rings. So much fun!

Fidgets and chewy tubes are helping friends get the sensory input they need during circle time and other activities.

Sand, floor, and kinetic sand are also fantastic for working on our fine motor skills!

Thanks again for supporting our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

  • Literacy for Little Learners

    Funded Apr 14, 2019

Thank you so much for your support of my classroom! I love working with my young students each day and these materials will make my job just a litter easier. I cannot wait to use the flannel board sets to tell stories and sing songs.

I'm so appreciative of your support!”

    Funded Mar 31, 2019

Thank you so much for your support! I am so excited to attend this conference in May and have new ideas to take back to my school and my classroom. I also look forward to presenting to other teachers. I cannot wait to share my knowledge and experiences with other educators.

Thanks again for your generous donations!”

  • Take Home Literacy Kits

    Funded Oct 21, 2018

The Take Home Literacy Kits quickly went into circulation when they arrived. They were a great addition to the 41 other learning backpacks that families are able to check out from our school (another amazing DonorsChoose.org project). Demand is so great for these backpacks that we have had to rotate which classes get to check out the packs each week.

Families have already expressed their appreciation for the learning kits, they love having these resources to share with their children. Our school families are always happy to have new learning opportunities for their children, thank you for making this possible!”

  • Building Blocks for Learning

    Funded Nov 16, 2018

Our new blocks arrived at the perfect time- the start of our buildings study. We are learning about buildings near and far and how buildings are constructed. The new blocks are perfect for this! The children have been practicing making houses, towers, and more! One friend likes to lay the blocks flat so they look like a person.

I love that my students now have access to a developmentally appropriate building medium, so that they have the same experiences as their peers in other preschool classrooms. They are capable of so much and it thrills me to give them the opportunities to learn and grow each day!”

  • Inspiring Little Tree Huggers

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

We are wrapping up our Tree Study this week. The children have so enjoyed learning about trees, the foods the provide, the items made from trees, and how trees change over the past six weeks.

My little tree huggers have made art with tree parts, painted their own leaves, and built with wood pieces as part of our exploration of trees. We've also enjoyed several nature walks to watch the trees change as Summer faded into Fall.

In the classroom, we enjoyed reviewing and reading books about trees and Fall. My students particularly enjoyed playing the Haba Orchard Cooperative Game and the HoneyBee Tree game. Building with tree slices and tree-shaped blocks have also been popular. We also love our tree balance in the discovery center.”

  • Can They Build It? Yes They Can!

    Funded Oct 3, 2018

We are beginning our Building Study this week and I am so excited to have these new resources to share with my students. We've already integrated some toys into our Block Area. The airplane and school bus toys are particularly popular with my young students. The parking garage is also a super fun new addition to our block and car play. The children love sending cars racing down the ramps!

As we begin the Building Study, we will set up a construction site dramatic play area. Children will be able to wear construction worker costumes and engage in pretend play with tools and blocks. I cannot wait to introduce this area to the children!

Thank you so much for these exciting new additions to our classroom!”

  • Preschoolers Need to Play at Home!

    Funded May 20, 2018

Our backpacks started going home a few weeks ago. So many families at our school are benefiting from this project. In fact, demand is so great that we are having to rotate which classes get to take the packs home each week, as there simply aren't enough to go around!!

It's a big project and rotating the packs each week is a lot of work, but it is so worth it to see the children's excitement about learning and playing! The children get so excited when they see it is their turn to take home a backpack.

The parents are thrilled to have these learning opportunities for their children. Several parents have expressed their gratitude for these new resources to share with the children.”

  • Supplies for Special Education

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for the generous gifts! Our classroom was in need of new organization and supplies. I've already gotten to work printing and assembling new adapted books and materials for my students. The laminating sheets have come in handy again and again. Similarly, the Velcro allows me to create accessible materials for my young learners.

As the year is winding down, the boxes and organizers are coming in handy. We will need to pack up the classroom for the summer and a variety of boxes and bins allows us to ensure everything has a safe place to be stored. The tape and markers allow me to label all the containers and be sure they are properly sealed for the summer construction project.

Thanks again for the support. My coworkers, students, and I are so appreciative!”

  • Family Art Night

    Funded Oct 3, 2017

Our Family Art Night was last week and it was truly a fantastic evening! The children and their families enjoyed having a meal together and making art. Our preschool team enjoys hosting these events so much because we know how much they mean to the families.

We set up four stations with different art activities for the children to try. In one room, children used watercolors and pastels. In another room, they painted with tempera paints. In the third room, they made paper collages. And in the final room, they made collages in recycled boxes. The parents were all amazed at how calm and focused their children were as they worked on their art. Some of this artwork is now hanging in the hallway of our school. The children love to point to the pieces they created!

At the end of the evening, we handed out the bags of art supplies for the children to take home. They were so excited to see the materials! I am sure they are being used daily in many homes.”

My students are 2, 3, and 4-year-olds with special needs. The children have a variety of disabilities, including Down syndrome, blindness, Autism, developmental delay, and language disorders. I also have a few students who are typically developing who serve as peer models for language and socialization. My students come from culturally diverse families and many have socio-economic challenges, as well. My school is a Title I school and we have a large population of children with special needs and English Language Learners.
