  • Making My Structured Literacy Lesson Perfect!

    Funded Oct 19, 2023

We are immensely grateful for your support and generosity! Thanks to your kind donations, we have the materials that complement our Structured Literacy Lessons.

Students' eyes lighted up when they saw the Mini Magic Boards! They love using them during the Auditory Drill of our Structured Literacy Lesson. We also use them for Orthographic Mapping: Tap It/Map It/Graph It. Students hear a word and they tap each sound, map the number of sounds using lines, and then write the letter/s that represent the sounds that make up the word.

We use the Foam Magnetic Letters for blending VC and CVC words. Students create their own words (real and nonsense) and they blend the sounds together.

The Elkonin Box Magnetic Dry-Erase Boards are helping our students builds their phonological awareness skills by segmenting words into individual sounds. Students also use the Elkonin Boxes to help them understand the alphabetic principle in decoding and spelling. Because of your generosity, we were able to get these valuable educational materials that support students acquiring early literacy foundational skills!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

  • Foundational Skills: Intervention Students Benefit From Manipulating Letter Tiles!

    Funded May 6, 2022

We are immensely grateful for your support, and generosity! Thanks to your kind donations, we are able to build words sound by sound from simple CVC words to more challenging words with blends and digraphs using the Phonics Magnetic Word Building Boards we received.

We truly enjoy being able to use our hands to manipulate the magnetic phonics tiles from the Phonics Word Builder Magnetic Kit. We also love that the letters are color-coded because this helps us identify the vowels, the consonants, the consonant blends, etc.

The Word Building Magnetic Activity Tin is helping us practice the skills we have learned. All we have to do is get an activity mat, then use the magnets to fill in the blanks in order to build the words according to the pictures.

The BIG IMPACT will soon happen when we are able to demonstrate progress on our early foundational skills assessments! Can't wait to show you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

My students are 99% Latinos who live in a high poverty part of the city and our school is an area where homeless people wander around. Due to their young age, they are not fully aware of their surroundings. They come to school happy and their parents do their best to provide them with the basic needs.
