Listen Up!
Funded Mar 27, 2018My students enjoyed listening to multiple stories as they followed along with the book. Listening to a story allows the English Language Learner to become familiar with sight words. This will help them to read other books on their own. It also builds their self confidence.
Another reason that the listening center is a success is because it gives the students a sense of independence for their learning experience. They also love being in charge of the equipment that they are using. For example, one student will pass out the books while another student will press play on the tape player.
I love hearing the students repeat the words they hear. It shows how comfortable they are in the classroom environment. Eventually, they utilize the text they hear to assist them when having conversations in English. It's amazing how quickly they pick up on the new language.
Thank you very much for making a difference in the education system.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple and one other donor.Showing It Big!
Funded Mar 3, 2017Thanks to your generous donations, my students are using chart paper and markers to share their ideas in a risk free environment. They are able to use a manipulative to help reinforce their mathematics skills and strategies in order to be successful in first grade.
When students are writing on the chart paper, they are looking at their words to check and recheck for spelling errors.
They make sure they are trying their best. Through the use of chart paper and markers, my students get a bigger, closer look at the work of their peers as well as the teacher engaging students with large graphic organizers and print.
My students were so excited to use the hands on math line. Their expressions were priceless when using the math line to help them add and subtract.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Torres
