Writers Inspiring New Authors
Funded Nov 1, 2016Our fifth grade class cannot thank you enough for helping us obtain our document cameras. The students chomp at the bit to be able to show their writing process to the whole class. They are proud of the edits they have done and love to show how they 'redesigned' their papers. It is wonderful to see kids be proud of re-doing something to make it better and to show others that they didn't quite have it right the first time.
We firmly believe that the use of the document cameras with their writing has enhanced their final products. As each child shows their work, another benefits and incorporates these ideas into their own.
Thank you again for allowing our writers to blossom!”

Devouring Books
Funded Mar 23, 2016As soon as the boxes arrived with our new books, the students clamored to get their hands on them! We had to create a sign up sheet for many of them! They delved in and devoured them! I loved watching them get lost in new worlds.
The art supplies helped them create amazing projects for their Literacy Fair. We invited the younger grades into the auditorium to walk around and learn about our favorite books. It was overheard as some third graders left to room that they couldn't wait to get to 5th grade and get their 'hands on that book'! It was wonderful to share our love of reading with our younger friends.
We would not have been able to achieve this without your support! Your donation will help students in years to come find new worlds to get lost in.”

Creative Classroom Supplies
Funded Mar 21, 2016Our class cannot thank you enough for your donation to help us acquire our supplies. The yoga balls have replaced all of our chairs. The art supplies are allowing us to be creative with our projects that we are designing for literacy and math. We love being able to use all of our supplies.
State testing has begun and the yoga balls are making a huge difference. Some of our friends have trouble sitting still for 10 minutes let alone 2+ hours! The yoga balls are allowing them to 'get the wiggles' out. We also take a stretch break and lay back on the yoga balls to help ease our backs. They are making the state assessments a bit more easier to take.
We have begun our Literacy Fair project and the planning stage of Geometry City. We cannot wait to share these projects with our younger friends at the Literacy and Math fair.
Thank you again for helping us get the things that we needed to become more successful!”

This classroom project was brought to life by #BestSchoolDay and 7 other donors. It's a Brand New World!!
Funded Jul 25, 2014Through your generous donations we have been able to create a classroom that we fell safe and comfortable! We have become voracious readers as we relax in a comfy spot of our choosing. We are growing as writers and use our clipboards to find a quiet place to write. We have used our art materials to create bookmarks for the children at CHOP and to create beautiful and inspiring letters to our heroes serving our country. Those rainy day indoor recesses are so much better as we are engaged in fun games - Ms. Scherff even gets involved.
We cannot thank you enough for helping us make room 201 an enjoyable place where we learn and grow together!”

It's Science!!!
Funded Dec 16, 2013My students were so excited to open our boxes from Donors Choose! They love the Bill Nye videos and we have tried many of his experiments in our classroom and school. My 7th and 8th graders invited the lower grades to our lab to try some of the experiments as well. It has been such a hit. The lower grade students ask almost every day when can they come up again. It has been so exciting to see the students bond over science.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping to make this happen.
