Replenishing the Treasure Box
Funded Aug 11, 2024It is my joy and pleasure to thank you with all my heart for your continuous help in making my projects in donors choose a reality. This project help me to materialize the relationship between well done job in conduct and academics with earning a reward. My students are learning how their efforts in the previously mention areas will pay off here at the elementary school level, so when they hit the road of life after their academic journey of K through 12 (or all the way to their senior year in college), that same principle will be already master and set in their souls for them to be productive and successful citizens.
One of the most exciting moment as a teacher is to see my students happiness reaction, mixed with wonder and a sense of satisfaction when I let them know about the full funding of the project posted in donors choose. Them and I felt that we are not alone in this journey to reach excellence in our classroom, you certainly have our backs distinguished donors. We are very grateful for your contribution. Thank you and the peace of God be with you.”

Brain Break by Physical Play
Funded Apr 16, 2024Through your kindness and compassion you have giving us the necessary materials to have a brain break by physical play in the patio of our school. The kids are more than motivated to pay attention and participate during the time of the lesson because they know they will enjoy afterwards some time doing physical activity.
Many of my students are from Hispanics country, where they used to have a different type of school schedule. In that schedule they enjoyed an hour lunch, which they used to eat their lunch and then the rest of the time for playing or just socialize. The shock of having just thirty minutes lunch under their new school, besides the new language and culture has being asphyxiating for some of them. The way I identify it is through their lack of engagement in class, bad attitude due to feeling uncomfortable with the new schedule, procedures, rules, etc., or sometimes some of them start crying.
Our deepest gratitude an appreciation to you.”

Exercising Creativity
Funded Feb 1, 2024I hope when your read these lines you and your family are in good health and prospering in all your endeavors. I want to express my gratitude to all of you for your donations to our project (my students and mine). I have been able to work my students' creativity and emotional well being through the Legos set received. My second graders love to create new things with the Legos or just follow the directions to build the suggestions included in the set.
I want to encourage you to keep donating to other projects, according with your economics or course. You make possible for us, the teachers, to reach more of the students every year with your donations. Thank you and God bless you.”

Mr. Rodriguez
Exercising Creativity
Funded Feb 23, 2022I hope when you read this letter you are fine. A feeling of gratitude flooded our hearts with happiness and accomplishments when we received the donation funded by you. The student's reaction when they saw the materials always will live in my heart. They understood the process of asking and receiving donations and saw the results of it. That gave them the feeling of being capable of accomplishing things in life. It is my pleasure and honor to write to you to share with you about your contribution to us and how it is impacting the future generation.
I would like to share with you one way we are using the new resources funded by you. We are using the Legos by doing what is call Lego city. In this activity the students in small groups plan how to build a city or part of it by first drawing it in a paper (design stage) and then they build it. They should consider the amount of Legos' block available to make sure they will finish their construction completely with no leftovers or short of parts. During this process they exercise creativity by making a mental image of the city or one part of it and then draw it; develop teamwork skills through discussions about the design of the city and the decisions making process, and the assignments of roles to execute the plan.
The next step for my students to extent the lesson into the real world is to research careers related to design a construction of infrastructures and its requirements to become a professional in those fields. That will awake a desire for that career or a sense of "purpose search" to discover the vocation that they will love and use to serve the rest of the society.
God bless you for your effort to help us, until the next project.”

Mr. Rodriguez

Thank you for believe in us and investing in the future generation of people that will be serving our society. Thank you for giving me the tools to perform my job better. This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and 2 other donors.Differentiated Instructions Through Centers
Funded Nov 20, 2015I have to admit that I was losing hope. It was November and nothing happened with my project. Actually I saw other teachers' projects from my school were funded... and that was more depressing for me. Suddenly I couldn't believe it, YES! The e-mail of victory arrived from donor's choose website. That was a great moment for me that I will never forget. The realization of this project will make a lot of difference for me and my students during our teaching-learning experience here in Hialeah Elementary.
The students will be able to work different centers with different mathematical approaches. This technology will provide the opportunity for my students to work in iReady and Reflexmath computers programs. The beauty of these programs is that provide exercises according with the students' performance level. For instance iReady give the students the lesson, practice and evaluation needed of third grade skills and concepts that will be assess during the state test. The program generates specific data that I will use to make decisions about my teaching practices and lesson planning. The program provides the opportunity for me to re-assign any skill or concept not learned by the student as well as other new ones to provide some preview experience before I will teach the lesson about them. Reflex provides practice of the multiplication and division facts through games to enhance the fluency of these, in order for the students' brain not been busy in solve the facts and not comprehend the word problem, but to concentrate in comprehend the word problem completely and been able to resolve it correctly.
If you still can't understands the impact that your donation just made and the gratitude in our hearts, just look the pictures. They are worth thousands of words. Thank you once again, have a bless day.”

Mr. Rodriguez
