At the inclusion school where I teach science, we are expanding the ways all of our students, including English Learners and students with special needs can express their knowledge. I have been using an app called Seesaw on our iPads and Chromebooks. This app gives students the opportunity to take photos and record audio and video to show what they have learned, in addition to the more traditional drawing and writing. Offering these multiple means of expression allows students to share what they know, even if they struggle to read and write. We need noise-cancelling headphones with built-in microphones so that several students can record at once without excessive background noise. This will provide more access to Seesaw and other recording apps for the students who need it most.
