From Herb Garden to Table
Funded May 22, 2024Thank you so much for the donation of a herb garden to our classroom. Classroom gardens should be more about the experience and magic of growing rather than what is produced. Students who have a connection with their food are more likely to eat it and enjoy it. Children who grow their own food also form an emotional connection with nutritious food because they do the hard work of nurturing it into an edible plant. Even growing herbs, flowers, or houseplants can be a satisfying and educational way to get your students more connected to nature.
We are fortunate to have big classroom windows with plenty of natural light. The students planted the seeds and watered them frequently. They were able to watch their plants grow. We had enough small pots for the students to take home and continue to care for their plant.”

Funded Jan 17, 2024I absolutely love having plants in my classroom, and I know my students do too! The plants add a touch of freshness and vibrancy to our dull classroom windowsill! The greenery turn an otherwise stuffy classroom into a thriving environment for my students.
Each week the students get to water and observe the growth of the different varieties of plants. They get excited to see the plants growing taller and also sprouting new leaves. When students are able to see the effort and care needed to grow plants, they develop a sense of ownership for these living beings. Developing awareness of how precious nature is can help them become connected to their environment outside of the classroom.
This, in turn, will help develop a love for the environment which will benefit the Earth for years to come!”

Funded Jan 5, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations that helped fund my project.
With Covid-19, our students had to go back to school and change their way of learning from remote to in-person. Their mindset and work habits have to once again shift. This project was so important for students because most of them have not had the opportunity to engage with fun and hands-on materials in the classroom.
Our class will benefit from the addition of magnetic letter tiles to help build foundational skills. Magnetic letters provide opportunities for hands-on learning.
Thank you again for seeing my passion for teaching and supporting my classroom.”

Welcome Back!
Funded Jan 7, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations that helped fund my project. This project was so important for students because most of them have not had the opportunity to engage with fun and hands-on materials in the classroom.

Thank you for helping to provide hand-on engaging activities that help reinforce basic reading and math skills. The Phonics Flip Books and Word Families Flip Books will be used in centers so that students can independently reinforce fundamental reading skills. The Math Manipulatives toolbox and dice set will be used in small groups to help students with math skills tapping into their visual, auditory and kinetic strengths.”

Make Us Mobile
Funded Sep 15, 2021Thank you so much for the donation of a mobile laptop cart and a bluetooth mouse. We are in the process of updating our SmartBoard so that we can use our digital classroom and resources more efficiently. The additional of a mobile cart allow the teacher to teach from various areas in the classroom without have to stay plugged into one spot. The students benefit from more teacher interaction; as the teacher can move around the room to check in with students without interrupting the flow of the lesson. Student can also take on a more leadership role in the classroom. They can interact with the SmartBoard in the front of the room while the teacher can work off the mobile laptop cart on the side.”

Let's Stay Connected!
Funded Mar 1, 2021Thank you so much for the addition of a new MacAir laptop to use in my classroom. The new laptop makes accessing the Google suite faster and easier to access. Now I am able to create Google slides with ease while lesson planning and working with students in school and at home. I can also create google forms, charts and documents to share with parents, students and coworkers.
My classroom desktop does not have a speaker, camera or microphone. With this new laptop, I am able to participate in Zoom meetings and Microsoft teams meetings without having to use my cellphone. I can fully participate on professional teams with ease and comfort.”

Empowering Girls To Become STEM Explorers
Funded Sep 19, 2020Thank you for the donation of a color printer to our classroom.
This new printer would be the key to unlocking their potential in creativeness in science and math.
It is capable of printing the day to day stories and assignments that they create on their iPads and school computers.
When I ask my students to write, I want them to feel like they will have that finished product to take home and share with their families.
I want my girls to research and create projects motivated by innovative women who made their mark in science, technology, engineering and math. I am planning lots of activities and projects for them to create slide shows, presentations, and doing lots of research on the questions that they undoubtedly come up with during the course of the year. I want them to not only have access to their work in a digital sense but also a hard copy. It makes things so much more real for them to actually be able to touch and hold something.
That is such a crucial and motivating element for my students. They love seeing that finished product coming out of the printer.”

Funded Dec 4, 2019Thanks for your letter. We are just returning from winter break and enjoying the new library resources. It took some time to go through each basket, throw out old books and add new ones. We are fortunate to constantly get book donations at our school. Our next step is to redo all the labels.
Unfortunately, I did not go anywhere for this break. I am hoping to plan something for the Easter break with my family. I have a Twitter account I use actively. My username is JessRiv918. Hopefully we can keep in touch there!”

Funded Oct 19, 2019Thank you again for your donation to my "We are Super Students" proposal. With the items such as superhero posters, superhero bulletin board set and other decorations I was able to to create an exciting and inspiring classroom environment. The students were excited to receive and open the boxes from Amazon. We immediately opened the boxes and have been using the items daily. As you can see from the photos, our school building is about 113 years old. Classroom environment is one of the most important factors affecting student learning. The physical structure of a classroom is a critical variable in affecting student morale and learning. The Super Hero theme fits perfectly with special needs students in elementary school. Your donation provides the burst of colors and pizzazz our classroom needs.
I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that we were on the same trip to Egypt last April.
Thank you so much.”

We're Jammin, Special Needs Class Needs New Printer
Funded Aug 8, 2017My fourth and fifth grade students use various forms of technology every day. There are so many new and innovation apps and programs being developed for the classroom. However, students need to produce written reports and essays in preparation for college. A good working quality printer is an essential component is a 21st century classroom.
Right now, the students are working on informational reports on Hurricanes. Many of them have family that live in Florida, Puerto Rico and surrounding islands so this topic is of great interest to them. As part of their report, students are now able to included colored pictures and graphics to enhance and illustrate their writing. This is exciting for them. Previously, they had to use black and white clip art that was limited. Now their reports look like actual magazine articles.”
