My students are an amazing group of kids that are often labeled as "disadvantaged." They come from the kind of backgrounds and home lives that adults tend to feel sorry for. That never stops them. These students are hard-working and full of potential. I would not be telling the truth if I said they come bursting through my door each morning begging to be taught, but they are willing to listen to their off-the-wall teacher as she brings up words and topics they have never heard of. They are fighters, even if they do not know it.
