  • Learning and Playing Outside

    Funded Mar 18, 2025

We are all settled an ready for outdoor learning, just in time for Spring! Today we had our annual Easter Egg hunt. Our families were so impressed with our shelving and outdoor learning centers. I was even told that the adults wanted to stay and play. Thank you for giving us this final part of our outdoor learning area.

Outdoor shelving in preschool settings encourages independence, promotes organizational skills, and fosters learning through accessible resources. It allows children to select and return materials independently, fostering a sense of responsibility and spatial awareness. We are seeing this type of learning happening already.

Thanks to the Donors Choose Community, we are learning every day.”

  • Chairs for Confidence When Learning!

    Funded Apr 4, 2025

It only took a week for our new chairs to arrive! What a wonderful treat! We were so glad to get rid of our old outsized chairs. Our Toddlers are already finding it easier to sit and learn in them. I was also pleased to see the classroom look so much cleaner and inviting. The chairs are also very sturdy and will last for many years to come.

Having chairs that fit toddlers in the classroom is crucial for their comfort, attention, and development. Properly sized chairs allow toddlers to sit comfortably, promoting better posture and reducing fidgeting, which can aid in focus and learning. It also allows them to feel stable and grounded while working, supporting their developing motor skills.

Now we are looking to get some sturdy, enriching books for our classroom. Please look us up to help us with this important literacy need.”

  • Bring Our Indoors, Outdoors!

    Funded Sep 17, 2024

Winter is here and we are still able to use our outside classroom. We have had our table and cozy outside chairs for awhile. It has provided a quiet, reading space for teachers to read to the children, and children to read to each other. The chairs that you helped purchase are sturdy and weather resistant. The teachers are able to sit with children on their lap and read to them. This was an unexpected and a great asset to learning. In learning areas outside or inside children need quiet areas to learn self regulation. They are learning how to control their emotions and appreciate literacy.

We only have one more shelf to make our outdoor classroom complete. The project is currently posted. Please consider helping us again to complete our wonderful outdoor classroom!”

  • Let Nature Be A Teacher!

    Funded Mar 15, 2024

As you already know...educational environments are constantly changing. This summer our infants are getting a new, safer outdoor play area. That meant that our Toddlers had to move to a temporary space. The shelf has been invaluable for our students this summer. It has given us an easy place to store our materials while on our temporary yard. The shelf was easy to move and gives the children a bit of nature while on the yard. My students have a place where they can find outdoor learning materials and a place to put them back. I can't wait to return to our permanent yard and use the shelf too. It has been a versatile learning tool!! Thank you again, and please take a look at our current project that will give us a table and chairs to match our shelf!”

  • Little Chefs Learn Outdoors

    Funded Jan 19, 2024

Spring is here and summer is coming!! Our toddlers are cooking and shopping in the fresh air!! Our Dramatic Play Learning Center is in full use. They are cooking for each other. They are learning how to cooperate with friends. While playing with their peers students are able to build upon their social emotional skills. Many socialization skills are learned while interacting with their classmates. During this type of play, children develop the ability to coordinate and plan with others as well as problem-solve. So much learning is amazing. I was also able to use pictures of this learning at a conference for Early Childhood Educators in the Sacramento area. We just need a couple of more pieces of furniture to complete our outdoor classroom. Look for a new project to be posted soon.”

  • Growing And Learning For The Little Ones

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Winter is here and our garden is srting to grow winter vegatables. We have seeds sprouting; Chard, broccoli, brussel sprouts, kale and other winter vegetables. The turnips and parsnips are just beginning. The trees shed their leaves and the children see birth even in the winter months.

The toddlers inspect the yard every day and learn about nature through touching, smelling and hopefull eating. The children have been able to work the soil in the planting boxes, and drop the seeds into the soil. What wonderfull tool your gift has provided for our little ones. Thank you again.”

  • Literacy Area for Our Littles

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

When a child learns a love of reading at an early age, they will have greater general knowledge and expanded vocabulary. In addition, reading builds improved attention spans and better concentration skills. Literacy opens opportunities for academic success.

For years our number one goal has been promoting Literacy. Adding this Comfy Book Nook has improved our reading area because it is floor-level and easy infant access. Now our reading area its more welcoming for our infants to crawl into, and being able to choose their book. It was an amazing addition to our Infant Center!”

Fall is finally here and our new science center is in full swing. The shelves have baskets of pine cones and acorns. Magnifying glasses are allowing the toddlers to see nature up close. Our children to explore, experiment, question, discover, and understand natural and human-made objects and forces. • Mindful Seating for Learning

    Funded Sep 1, 2022

It's been a while since we received our wonderful rug, and it still looks like new!! This rug is not just helping the children learn, but I am learning too. The earth tones continue to keep the room calm. The spaces between the circles help the students stay in their own space!! They are learning their colors when we ask them to sit on their blue, green, white, or yellow circles. I am always surprised and grateful for the support I get for Donors Choose projects. The assistance you give continues to help to learn for years to come!!

I have posted my next project, a Growing Tower which combines composting and growing!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nancy

Children learn best by describing, documenting and interacting with materials around them. They are naturally inquisitive scientists. The science shelf will allow the children to explore a variety materials that are of interest to them. They will be able to explore the properties of magnets or the seeds in a pine cone. There will be materials to measure, count and document observations. The sensory table will provide children with opportunities to explore materials by touching, smelling, observing materials. The table will allow them to explore inside as well as outside. Budding scientists will be able to create a hypothesis and come up with conclusions. This will create a foundation for future learning into adulthood and tech careers.
