My students are from various areas of the South Bronx. Their families all live in impoverished neighborhoods in the area and all qualify for free lunch. However, they have an insatiable quench for knowledge and they put in maximum effort every day in their relentless quest to learn. I work in a district 75 school, which means we handle the students with the greatest special needs in the city. Our goals are to provide every student with the best opportunities to maximize their potential by creating a caring atmosphere of teachers, related service providers, and support staff to ensure that every child is receiving the appropriate level of support to reach their goals. I have worked in the education field for several years in several settings and I can honestly say this is the most rewarding position I have held. My students are bright, funny, personable, kind, always willing to help, and truly want to learn as much as they can. It has been a joy to see their development.
