  • Snug As A Bug On A Bright Colorful Rug!

    Funded Sep 29, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donations to make our new classroom rug a reality! My students were so excited when they saw the rug being delivered to our classroom and even more excited when we got to use the next day. I heard so many students commenting on how pretty it was and how we needed to work hard to take care of it.

We use our classroom rug for so much of our instructional time during the school day. It is our meeting place and where we do most of our whole class instructional time. Since it is so bright and comfy, many of my students even use it during our Daily 5 rotations to do Read to Self. Thank you again for helping us get a new classroom rug and a wonderful meeting space!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alford

  • Teaching Today's Students with Tomorrow's Technology!

    Funded May 3, 2017

Thank you so much for helping to fund our Apple TV. My students have loved being able to project the app that we are working on and to compete against each other. I am loving being able to model for them how to use apps as a whole group by projecting it and having students complete a few exercises on the apps before allowing them to practice own their own using the other iPads. I have been able to teach several lessons completely by projecting a particular app.

Thank you again for your generous donations. My students and I appreciate them more than words can say.”

  • Boogie On Down

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

Having an additional 10 Boogie Boards in our classroom has made using our Boogie Boards as a whole class a dream. Now every student has a Boogie Board to use when we are doing whole group activities. My students love writing their answers on the Boogie Boards and being able to erase them quickly with the touch of a button. I have heard them say things like "These are so cool!" and "I love learning like this!". These kinds of statements make learning better in our classroom and I love seeing the excitement on their faces. I no longer hear anyone saying they can't find their dry erase marker or eraser or even that their marker no longer works. Thank you so much for your generous donations and support of our classroom!”

  • Help "STEM-ulate" Our Learning!

    Funded Dec 30, 2016

Having these new STEM materials in our classroom has made science, math and technology FUN again for my students. They simply loving using their hands to discover and learn something new. It is amazing how much more they can learn when they are involved and excited about what they are learning. My students have enjoyed hearing the new science books read aloud to them and then reading them again while they are having individual reading time. They have learned so much from being able to read about these topics and then do hands-on experiments on the same topics.

It is only through the help of donors like you that I am able to provide these needed materials to my students. Thank you again for your support of our classroom.”

  • Help Us Get Rooted in Reading!

    Funded Jan 12, 2017

When the boxes arrived from this project full of the Rooted in Reading mentor texts, my students couldn't even contain their excitement. "Wow!" and "Ahh!" were the sounds that I heard as we began unpacking the books. My students love to read and these books are going to help them head in the right direction with their reading. Through this reading program, my students are learning comprehension skills, new vocabulary, and grammar skills. They are so excited to see what the new "Book of the Week" is and what we will be doing with that text. Thank you again for your generosity in providing these great mentor texts to my classroom and inspiring a love of reading in my students!”

  • Boogie On Down!

    Funded Dec 29, 2016

The implementation of the Boogie Boards provided by this project has been amazing! The kids have loved using them and ask every day asking if we'll be using them again. So far, in the short time that we've had them, we've used them for math groups, for creating webs as a pre-writing activity, and for quick checks during both math and reading lessons. I know that we will come up with even more ways to use them. The best part is there are no more markers to dry out!

Thank you again for helping to purchase these Boogie Boards for my classroom. It is only with help from donors such as yourself that I am able to add these extras for my students.”

  • Yearning for Learning!

    Funded Oct 15, 2016

Thank you so much for donating to support our classroom. My students were excited to see the boxes come in and even more excited when they realized the boxes were filled with school supplies for them to use. As we opened the boxes, I heard plenty of excited chatter from my students. They discovered they would each be getting new colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks, pencils, and erasers. This was such an exciting day for them especially since many of them had not gotten the necessary supplies when school began. They are so proud of these new supplies and have been putting them to good use. Thank you again for your support in giving my students the basic supplies they so desperately needed!”

  • Bring the Magic of Reading To Our Classroom!

    Funded Jun 14, 2016

"Ooo!" "Wow!" These were the sounds heard in my classroom as I opened the boxes of new chapter books provided through your generous donations. My students were amazed at all the shiny new books contained within those boxes. Then the questions began: "Are we going to get to read those?" "What is this book about?" "When we will we read this one?" They are so excited about reading them all. Since this is the beginning of a new school year, most of my 2nd graders are not ready to read these books on their own yet, but I will be reading them aloud. Each day we read another chapter from one of the books and they are loving the suspense that each chapter brings. They cannot wait to be good enough readers to read these books on their own! Thank you for helping inspire a love of reading in my students. You will never fully know the impact of your donations!”

    Mrs. Alford

  • Get Us Close Enough to Learn

    Funded Jan 29, 2016

I can not say thank you enough for your donations to give my students a half moon small group table! Since our school adopted the Daily 5 during our reading routines, I have rearranged our classroom to allow for my students to have more comfortable reading spots. Now that we have this half moon table, it frees up more floor space so that we can meet on specific strategies in small groups or independently. This table is the perfect size to work in groups of 3 to 4 students but could accommodate 5 or 6 if needed. It gives us enough table top space for our notebooks without having too much space that is wasted. We LOVE our new table! Thank you again for helping me to make every day a learning adventure.”

  • We Need Help to Be Tech-Savvy Second Graders!

    Funded Jan 1, 2016

Having new headphones, headphone splitters, a charging station for our iPads and the surge protector have helped my 2nd graders tremendously in taking responsibility for using the technology we are so fortunate to have in our classroom. My students have jumped right in to the roles of being our "Technology Supervisor" and making sure that each piece of equipment is used properly and put back in its correct place. They are very proud of the way they take care of the materials and are so excited to use them daily in our classroom. Having the new headphones and headphone splitters has allowed more students to use the technology as well as creating a better learning environment by cutting down on some of the noise in our classroom. Thank you again for being so generous with your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alford

My students are very excited kindergarteners who love to come to school and learn new things. They come from a low-income, rural area of South Carolina, but are very eager to learn new things. They attend a large elementary school which houses pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
