  • Help Us Construct New Learning!

    Funded Jan 8, 2019

My students were so very excited to see the new blocks and manipulative materials arrive in our classroom. The blocks center is one of their favorite centers in our classroom. They enjoy being able to build new creations each day. I am always amazed at their creativity in this center. The new foam blocks give them the opportunity to build taller creations without worrying about the wooden blocks falling down on their heads.

The manipulatives have also been well-received by my students. They enjoy using the pegs and pegboards to make patterns as well as make sets to show a certain number. The gears have by far been their favorite part of these materials. They work together to try to create something with the gears that will move when the crank is turned. Some students have made flat gears, while others have made gear towers.

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom with your generous donations. Through your support, my students are able to use these materials and the materials will be enjoyed for many classes to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alford

  • Creation Station in Kindergarten

    Funded Oct 3, 2018

Having a creation station in our kindergarten classroom has sparked so many of my students' imaginations. They are loving being able to think up and create new pieces of artwork. I love seeing their creations and hearing them describe them to us. This has also helped to build up their vocabularies as they are asked to explain what they have created. I watched a child paint a beautiful rainbow and explain how she used all the colors of the rainbow in the correct order because we had read a book in class about how rainbows were always in the same color order. I love watching them bloom and learn daily. Thank you for supporting us in our classroom as we help support our students. You are truly superstars!”

  • Learning Through Dramatic Play

    Funded Nov 18, 2018

My students were so excited when we saw the boxes of new dramatic play materials delivered to our classroom. Our dramatic play center is one of my students' favorite centers in our classroom. The new dolls were so exciting to my students as these dolls are of different backgrounds and match my students so well. They also love that we now have more than the one doll they had been playing with.

The new foods were great for introducing new vocabulary to my students. Many of them did not know what sushi was and learned a new word by asking other students and myself. I loved how the tubs of food were so varied. They also loved the familiar play foods like pizza, tacos, and cupcakes. These new materials are already infusing more learning into our dramatic play center and I can not wait to see what they discover next! Thank you again for supporting our classroom!”

  • Concentrating on Comprehension

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

Having the books that go along with the KinderLiteracy curriculum has been so beneficial to our classroom. My students have learned to be better readers by listening more carefully to the stories read aloud to them. These books have allowed us to do writing instruction, phonemic awareness lessons, learn new vocabulary and even make crafts connected to each lesson. These mentor texts include a variety of both fiction and non-fiction books that have kept my students interested and learning all year. Thank you again for being so generous and supplying these to our classroom!”

  • Dynamic Digital Documentation!

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

When our new digital camera and accessories arrived in our classroom, I was amazed at the excited sounds coming from my students. Many of them had never seen a digital SLR camera and were amazed at all the capabilities it had. We have been using it to take pictures of their work or of them doing different activities. These photographs are great to remind them of their work especially when they are trying to write about the experiences.

The students have also enjoyed being able to use the camera themselves to take photographs of things they have created in centers or doing center activities. These are great for them to write about to put in their kindergarten memory books. Thank you for helping my students experience a new aspect of technology in the classroom!”

  • Making Marvelous Mathematicians!

    Funded Feb 11, 2018

My students were so excited when the boxes of math manipulatives arrived in our classroom. They could not wait to open them up and begin using them. We have used the manipulatives in our whole class math lessons as well as in our small groups and they are always a hit with our students. They love being able to hold them in their hands as they are showing us what they are thinking.

The students have also used them in our math centers. They love using the Unifix cubes to create and extend patterns. They have also used the fruit counters to make patterns as well. The muffin game has been a favorite among our students to play with a partner. We have even come up with new ways to play it based on our current math standards of making sets of 10 objects.

Thank you again for being so kind and giving these wonderful materials to our students. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!”

  • Engineering Fun With STEM Materials

    Funded Nov 2, 2017

My students were so excited when they saw these boxes of materials come into our classroom. They love exploring with hands-on materials and these kits make that exploration even more fun for them. Their favorite kit has been the roller coaster kit as they have discovered ways to make their coasters faster and faster by working together. I love seeing the light of learning in their eyes and their excitement as they make the new coasters each time. They are learning so many wonderful skills through these STEM kits including working together. Thank you for your generous donation and inspiring the love of learning in my students!”

  • Building Blocks to Success

    Funded Sep 18, 2017

Thank you for your amazing generosity! My students absolutely love using the magnetic blocks we received. I am amazed by the amount of critical thinking my students use when building with the new magnetic blocks. They create plans for a design and then work together to make their creation come to life. These blocks have quickly become a favorite STEM activity in my classroom. Every student has been able to use them to create and use their imagination. Thank you again for having a positive impact on my students' lives and preparing them for the future!”

  • Anchor Our Learning!

    Funded Apr 27, 2017

My class is so thankful for the new materials to create classroom anchor charts. We have created many math charts together to help the students remember specific strategies. These anchor charts give the students a visual to refer back to as they are working independently. We have also created science anchor charts. My students worked together in groups to make an anchor chart about each of the animal groups as we were doing our animal studies unit. They loved having the large chart paper and colorful markers to really make these charts their own. Thank you again for your generosity! It will not be forgotten by my students or me!”

  • Every Classroom Needs a Library!

    Funded Apr 29, 2017

My students were so excited when they saw the boxes of new boxes show up at our classroom door. They are all so anxious to read them all! By having these books that are written at different levels, each student can choose a "just right" book which means it is a book that is neither too difficult or too easy for them to read. These are the perfect books for some amazing students! My students are allowed to check these books out from our classroom library to keep in their book baskets. They use the books in their book baskets during Read to Self time. My boys are especially enjoying these new books because they are so interested in non-fiction texts. Thank you again for your support of our classroom!”
