A Book for My Birthday
Funded Mar 31, 2023My students are so excited to receive a book for their birthdays. Having this assortment of books will give them a choice in which book they receive. Many of my students come from low-income homes and do not have access to a personal library of books. By giving them a book for their birthday, they will have a book they can keep and reread as often as they would like. These books will take them on trips in their imagination and also allow them to interact with their families as they read them together. They are already so excited to get to choose their book when their birthday comes around. Thank you again!”

Funded May 9, 2023Your donations are very much appreciated. Having these organizational materials is going to improve our classroom. Each of my intervention groups will have a specific place to put their specific materials (workbooks, folders, etc.). By having this in place at the beginning of the school year, my students will know the expectations from the first time they step into my classroom and will be able to correctly put away their materials at the end of each day's lesson. Being organized is a skill my students need and will use for the rest of their lives. Thank you again for your generosity!”

Funded Mar 30, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donations to provide these decodable readers for our intervention classroom. My students love to read books that go along with the skills they have been working on in their respective groups. The books you provided for us cover a variety of skills from letters and letter sounds to short and long vowels so there is a book for everyone based on what skill they are working on. My students are able to read these books with a partner or with me after they complete their lesson for the day and they have become so interested in the books that they will often beg to stay a little longer to finish reading them. This makes my teacher's heart so happy to see my students who came to me disliking reading now loving to read! Thank you again!”

Funded Mar 9, 2023Thank you for your generous donations to help my students become "Word Mapping Wizards" in our reading intervention classroom. My students love the new materials we have received. Having the mobile whiteboard allows us to use it throughout our classroom, at our small group table, and even on the rug depending on where we are working. The whiteboard is magnetic and has been a wonderful location to practice building and reading words. The students have also enjoyed using the reading rods to practice building CVC and CVCe words. This hands-on activity has truly been so beneficial to my students. Thank you again for being a champion for our classroom!”

Funded Feb 9, 2023Phonics is such an important stepping stone to reading because it teaches students the relationship between letters and sounds. These new materials have already had a positive impact on my students' reading intervention instruction. My students love being able to physically manipulate the letters to see how they work together to make words. The segmenting trays are wonderful because my students can see how many sounds are in the words and how to put the sounds together to read the word. They also have the ability to build the words using magnetic letter chips and then write the words using a dry-erase marker. Learning these phonics skills is crucial to their reading success. Reading is a life-long skill that will bring them life-long success. Thank you again for your generosity in donating to our classroom.”

Funded Feb 7, 2023Your generous donations have improved our learning environment so much. Having our new classroom rug allows us to work in a different space than our small group table and still have enough room to work. My students love having their own defined space (denoted by an apple) to sit or stand on depending on the activity. My math groups love being able to work on the rug so they have room to spread out their materials and don't have to worry about them rolling off the table. The students are still close enough to me as I sit on the rug with them to help them when they reach a challenge. This has been such a morale booster in our classroom.
The students love having the soft sit spots to make their own independent work spaces throughout our classroom. Our new storage shelf has been so beneficial as well. I am able to properly store our math intervention kits in an organized way and have them easily accessible to me and my students. Thank you again for your generosity!”

For The Love of Literacy
Funded Jan 3, 2023Thank you for your generosity in giving us these interactive, hands-on tubs of phonics materials. Early phonics knowledge is instrumental for students starting to decode written words.
My younger students love isolating the first sounds in the objects and then putting them in the correct tub. My older students also enjoy using the digraphs and blends tubs to review the sounds they have been working on during our phonics instruction time. By making learning fun, my students are building life-long connections to these skills.”

Building a Love of Reading
Funded Feb 8, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity. The new Unifix reading cubes and kits have truly transformed my reading intervention groups. These materials help my students get the hands-on application and practice they LOVE to do!
The Unifix reading cubes have blue cubes with consonants printed on them as well as red cubes for the vowels. Having the vowels easily distinguishable from the consonants makes it easier for my students to quickly use the cubes to build words. My 1st graders have been using the reading cubes to build CVC words and change parts of the words to create new words. This has quickly become a favorite activity that they love to do daily at the end of the lesson. My 3rd graders have used these same reading cubes to practice building words with digraphs and consonant clusters with similar results.
I absolutely love seeing the desire for learning in my students' eyes and watching them smile as they are successful. Thank you again!”

Funded Sep 20, 2022My students were so excited when these new STEM kits arrived in our classroom. They love using them on Fridays after we have completed our progress monitoring for the week. These kits connect what we have been working on during the week with science, technology, engineering, and math skills. They also make learning fun. The students love working together to come up with the answer to the problem posed by the fairy tale. These are familiar fairy tales that my students know from previous experiences but love to listen to over and over again. Thank you for making their learning fun and exposing them to new challenges with these STEM fairy tale kits.”

Funded Oct 12, 2022My students were so excited to see the new reading tools being delivered to our classroom. When we put the toolboxes together and they saw how the tools were to be used during their reading intervention times, it was exciting for all of us. These tools have made practicing phonics skills more fun for all of them. They love being able to use these toolkits daily. Having the small dry-erase boards within easy reach allows them to show their thinking and correct it if it does not make sense. The pop-its allow them to stretch out the sounds in words while being able to touch something while making the sounds. This helps my hands-on learners better store this knowledge in their long-term memory. Thank you again for your support of our intervention classroom!”
