  • Revved Up To Read

    Funded May 1, 2013

Thank you so much for funding this project. My students were so excited to see the boxes of books delivered to our classroom and they were even more excited when they realized they would be reading many of the books soon. My students discovered they would be practicing reading these books in class and then checking them out of our classroom library to practice reading with their parents at home. They are so excited now to begin our book in a bag program!

My students become so excited when they hear they are going to be able to choose their own book for reading time. They know they will be able to choose a book that is interesting to them as well as on their level. Thank you for making their goal of becoming a better reader possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alford

  • Bonkers Over Books

    Funded Mar 5, 2013

Thank you very much for donating to my classroom project! Your donations mean so much to my students and me. They helped to fully fund our project, Bonkers Over Books.

My students were thrilled when the new books arrived in our classroom and they were able to read many of them with little or no help from me. The books created a new sense of pride among my students who are now more confident in their reading abilities. My students loved that there was a great selection of books to choose from with some being fictional and others being non-fiction books. Now they are so excited that they will be able to check out these books from our classroom library and take them home to read with their parents.

Thank you again for making our dreams of being better readers real! Your generosity is greatly appreciated!”

    Mrs. Alford

  • Little Books To Make Great BIG readers!

    Funded Mar 23, 2012

Thank you very much for donating to my classroom project! Your donations mean so much to my students and me. They helped to fully fund our project, Little Books to Make Great BIG Reader. My students were so excited to see the boxes of books delivered to our classroom. When I opened the boxes to show them what we had received they were even more excited because they could read the books without assistance from me. This created a great feeling of pride in our classroom – both from themselves since they understood that they really are readers now and from me because they have learned so much. These books will be used in small group settings since they have multiple copies of each book. The students love being able to partner up and read together. They smile and laugh instead of becoming frustrated. Thank you again for making our goal of becoming better readers possible!”

  • Time for Kids to Learn About Their World

    Funded Mar 18, 2012

Thank you so much for funding our classroom project. My students were so excited to see the Time for Kids and Let's Find Out magazines delivered to our classroom and they were even more excited when they realized they could read much of the magazines themselves. This caused a stir of excitement in our classroom. There were smiles all around our classroom as they read through the magazines. They were fascinated by the new information they learned in each magazine and now are anxiously waiting on our next shipment of magazines. Thank you for making their goal of becoming a better readers possible!”

  • Books Within Our Reach

    Funded Jan 22, 2012

Thank you so much for funding our project for our new bookshelf. My kindergarten students LOVE going to the reading center now because they can see the front of the books that are in the center. They can easily choose a book that interests them and think we keep getting "new" books as I change them out. I am so glad that are learning to love reading and you have helped tremendously in that love of reading. You will never know what an impact you have had on these young minds. They will grow to be great readers with lots of opportunities. Thank you again!”

  • Alphabet Soup for the Kindergarten Souls

    Funded Dec 7, 2011

Thank you so much for funding the Alphabet Soup for Kindergarten Souls project! My students are excited have more phonics and phonological awareness games to play during small group times. They love getting to play games to practice skills and it is amazing how much they learn through "playing" these games. The alphabet pocket chart is great to have the students practice a certain letter and the sound associated with it. The students are loving using this during our phonics part of the day when they get to come up and practice the letter sound for the class. The games and alphabet pocket chart will be a great addition to our

classroom and will benefit every student in the classroom. Thank you again for supporting my

    classroom!”

  • Help Us Get the "Write" Stuff!

    Funded Apr 8, 2011

Thank you so much for your donation to purchase new writing supplies. We have enjoyed using the materials so far and will continue to enjoy using them into the future. My students have become very excited about writing and using the new supplies. They are becoming better writers and writing more creative pieces. The new markers have allowed my students to illustrate their stories using bright colors and the new pencil sharpener has been great since ours broke earlier this year. The kindness and generosity of Donors Choose donors continues to amaze me. Thank you again for donating to help my students!”

  • Capturing Memories of a First Grader's Year

    Funded Apr 2, 2011

Thank you so much for your donation to purchase our digital camera. We have enjoyed it so far and will continue to enjoy using it into the future. We have used it to take photographs of us dressed up as the career we would like to be and of our egg experiments. We are now using it to create pages for our year-long memory books. Being able to take quality pictures allows these projects to come to life. Without the camera, none of these would have been possible. The kindness and generosity of Donors Choose donors continues to amaze me. Thank you again for donating to help my students!”

  • A Listening Center for Little Learners

    Funded Feb 22, 2011

Thank you so much for supporting my students and classroom by donating to the Listening Center for Little Learners project. I was very fortunate last school year to receive a new cd player and headphones but my students did not have very many books with cds to listen to.

All students love being read to, but in a class of 15 I cannot possibly sit and read to each child individually. Having books on cd allows children the experience of being read to while I am working with other students on skills they may need. They are very excited about visiting the listening center now because I am able to change out the books more often.

Thank you again for supporting the education of my students!”

  • Creating a Community of Readers

    Funded Dec 30, 2010

Thank you so much for funding this project. My students were so excited to see the boxes of books delivered to our classroom and they were even more excited when they realized they could read the books.

Each child was able to find his/her correct leveled book bin and choose a book to read. This caused a great stir of excitement in our classroom. I listened to students who have struggled to read in the past explain excitedly how they could read these books. It was wonderful to hear laughter and see smiles on the faces of students where I have witnessed much frustration in the past.

Now my students become so excited when they hear they are going to be able to choose their own book for reading time. They know they will be able to choose a book that is interesting to them as well as on their level. Thank you for making their goal of becoming a better reader possible!

My students are very excited kindergarteners who love to come to school and learn new things. They come from a low-income, rural area of South Carolina, but are very eager to learn new things. They attend a large elementary school which houses pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
