Light Box Learning & Exploration
Funded Dec 31, 2024I once again want to thank you for providing this light box for my students to work on. I finally have the table to put this on and the instant they saw the light box lit up, they could not wait to play on it. My students started their exploration with a set of magnetic tiles. The structures that they built were amazing! I saw my students' thinking by the way they used and built with those magnetic tiles on the light box. I am so happy to see my students engage on this STEM activity. The quiet ones talk about their structure with their peers while using the manipulatives. I hope to provide them with more materials to add to this interesting resource. This is a great start. Beyond words can say, my students and I appreciate your help so much!”

Lunar New Year Celebration: Welcome Year of the Snake!
Funded Jan 4, 2025My class enjoyed a week of learning about the Lunar New Year as a part of our community unit. Celebrations are an important part of our community because they help people connect with others. More than ever, I believe that students should learn about other cultures besides their own to expand their world, understanding, and acceptance of the diverse people in their neighborhood. I am so grateful for these materials that made learning immersive and exciting for my TK students! They were so interested to read the book about Lunar New Year preparations. They were so amazed to watch the dragon and lion dances, and the parade in San Francisco. We also had our own parade inside the classroom in their lucky red clothes, dragon hats, and hand drums. Then, true to tradition, the children received red envelopes with chocolate gold coins, lucky candy, and fortune cookies in the red organza bags. A couple of parents donated mandarin oranges for the students placed in the red bowls that adorned our classroom, together with the Chinese lanterns that the students made for decorations. The Lunar New Year was such a great learning experience. Thank you for kind people like you who helped make it happen.”

Funded Nov 14, 2024The STEM magnetic tiles were a hit among my students! I finally started using them to tell the stories because it is the start of spring and we are going through the first week of our Food unit. I told the story of Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and they were so thrilled to see the story unfold using the book and the magnetic tiles. In one of our socio-emotional lessons, I wanted to encourage the students that they can do many things. In this lesson, I read them Eric Carle's book, "From Head To Toe" and used the magnetic tiles to enrich the book story while asking them to replicate the actions in the book. I have them available for the students to use in our center now. The students had been using them during exploration time. I can't thank you enough for helping me further my their learning by providing these magnetic tiles that illustrate stories and also provide opportunities for hands-on activity.”

Funded Jan 26, 2025Thank you so much for being so gracious in supporting our classroom needs. My students will have the resources needed to further their learning about food and other cultures. These books and puzzles will provide ways to explore and engage their minds to deepen their understanding of multicultural food and the many beautiful experiences that gathering around the table would bring. I appreciate you all!”

Funded Nov 2, 2024Thank you once again for these resources for my students to be able to pretend grocery shopping in our TK class during purposeful play. My students are enjoying these materials and are using them appropriately after modeling to them. The students are role playing as cashier and shoppers. They are paying for the groceries they buy using the play money in their wallets and bringing their grocery items "home" to cook or keep in the refrigerator or pantry in our pretend center. They are also using the toy ATM machine to deposit and withdraw money from their savings in the bank. These materials are highly engaging as students participate in cooperative play. Plus, the students learn to sort the grocery items and match them to the pictures during clean up time. I am grateful for your help in fostering creativity and in helping my students have fun while learning about financial literacy.”

Funded Nov 24, 2024Thank you once again for making this request happen! It is so fun to watch my students' excitement as they received their coloring books, holiday socks, and warm cocoa kits wrapped in nice holiday bags. The replacement items bought for this project were extras that they really liked such as the squishy toys, candy canes, and stickers. I appreciate your generosity in helping my students have materials to engage them during the busy holiday season. I am grateful for the love you shared. Your kindness made a difference in my 4-year-old learners!”

Engaging Students in a Print-Rich Classroom
Funded Sep 27, 2024Thank you so much once again for allowing my class have access to printer ink! I feel so blessed that I can have the option of printed materials for the students to work on so that I can hang them up on our wall. The children love to see their work featured on our boards. They are proud of what they can do and they point them out to each other. Each week, I also send an update to the parents where I show children's work such as self-portraits, letter of the day activities, cutting exercises, and many more. These will not be possible if I do not have printer ink to print templates and make copies as needed.
I am so grateful for making this provision possible for my class. I feel supported and able to teach my students better because you gave!”

Funded May 8, 2024I am so happy when this project got funded! Thanks to you, my preschoolers will have the resources they need to continue learning their letters, numbers, shapes, and even simple first words during the summer months.
We had the parent conferences last week and I suggested to the parents that flashcards are very useful in helping their children learn and recall basic knowledge they learned in preschool. Many of my students are able to identify more than 10 letters. There are also a number of them who are able to name all the letters and sound them too! I am very excited to surprise them that they did not need to purchase these flashcards because kind people like you helped to provide them with these useful resources.
As we close the school year, I am very thankful to all the help my class received. These boxes of flashcards will go to families who have a grateful heart. Big thanks to all!”

Funded Apr 4, 2024Thank you for making this book project possible for my preschoolers. Young as they are, I know that they will learn best if they have the resources they need. These books are wonderful! They will build their knowledge about print, letters, numbers, shapes and reasoning skills. They are perfect to work on during the summer months. They have beautiful pictures in them and all are colorful. The activities are age appropriate and skill based. They will surely get excited to work on them with the help of their parents. When you extended your kindness to my preschoolers, you helped them immeasurably because the impact of these books in their early education is massive as a small seed that gets watered and grows into a tree.
Once again, thank you for donors like you who care for these children whom you do not know but believe and invested in! May your kindness be rewarded a thousand fold!”

Funded Jan 28, 2024I am so grateful that your contribution to this project enabled my class to learn about another culture. The Lunar new year was such an engaging topic for my class. They came to school in their red clothing. We read a book about the lunar new year and viewed videos of lion dances and lunar new year parades. Then we reenacted one by sounding drums and chanting happy new year in mandarin while marching around the classroom. Before they went home, I gave each student a beautiful red envelope with gold milk chocolate coins and some lucky candy just like a traditional Chinese family would give to young children in their family.
The Chinese restaurant was a fun experience for my students. The play dimsum and steamers were such a great addition to our pretend Chinese restaurant. The children learned that there were food different than what they usually eat at home. We also read a book about dimsum and viewed a video on how to eat in a dimsum restaurant. As a culminating activity for our community helper unit, I brought my electric wok and cooked chow mein noodles. Then we used the Chinese placemats, bowls, chopsticks when we ate the noodles. The fortune cookies were also a hit with the kids. Some of them were curious about what was written in the little note that came with the cookies and asked us to read it to them.
Thank you so much for the wonderful learning experience made possible by your generous donation!”
