  • Books a Window of Opportunities

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you for supporting my students and my classroom. During these challenging times trying to keep students excited about learning while social distances has been a hard job. However, when the student first saw the many boxes their faces lite it like a firework show. Once I removed the books from the boxes it all started. I placed the books on the ledge of the whiteboard and students were allowed to select the book of their choice and take them home for pleasure reading. The students are often pulling out their books throughout the class and reading.”

  • STEMing Up

    Funded Mar 17, 2021

Thank you for supporting my classroom with drones, the butterfly farms, electric motor science kits, and snap circuits. The most exciting items were the two drones Due to COVID-19 I have had to take extra safety precautions when using the drones. One concept the students used the drones was the forms of energy, commonly called MELTS - mechanical, electrical, light, thermal and sound. The drones are also used as incentives activities for the students. The fun and engagement the drones has definitely added excitement to our class. The butterfly farm is also a hit and has arrived at the right time to go with our Ecosystem unit. Thanks for adding extra excitement to our class during a pandemic.”

  • Equity and Inclusion Using STEM and Books

    Funded Dec 31, 2020

Thank you for supporting my students and my classroom. During these challenging times trying to keep students excited about learning while social distances has been a hard job. However, when the student first saw the many boxes their faces gleamed like a light bulb. The 6 in 1 solar kit was one of the class favorites. The student enjoyed putting the device together. However, hearing the students dialogue while assembling was extremely impressive. The students enjoy receiving their book 'A Good Kind of Trouble'. Virtual students were given a book while the remaining books were placed around the classroom on the board for easy access. Students are able to freely select a book and select an area to read. All items have made a huge difference in our classroom.”

    Funded Jan 27, 2021

Thank you for supporting my students and my classroom. During these challenging times trying to keep students excited about learning while social distances has been a hard job. However, when the student first saw the many boxes their faces gleamed like a light bulb. The students entered class and the rainbow of colors of bags definitely caught their attention. The students were allowed to select the color of choice and the were excited. The students loved their colorful drawstring bags with the items inside. The Cricut Easy Press is also greatly appreciated as well.”

  • Supporting Social Emotional Learning

    Funded Mar 7, 2021

The students were SUPER excited when the class intercom came on and stated I have packages in the office. As the students raced out the class he paused and turned back and said they are here. His face and the class faces lit like bright stars in the night. The following day I gave the students their tracker watch, water bottle, and other items and they were just on a high. The items the students love most was the fitness tracker watch. I could hear the students constantly asking each other how many steps do you have? Students will use the data to complete, frequency tables, bar graph, dot plots and stem and leaf from data collected on a class assignment. Students are also communicating how they use their trackers to set alarm and monitor sleep. Great asset to the students and our classroom activities.”

  • Equity and Inclusion Using STEM/STEAM and Books

    Funded Dec 31, 2020

Thank you for supporting my students and my classroom. During these challenging times trying to keep students excited about learning while social distances has been a hard job. However, when the student first saw the many boxes their faces lite it like a firework show. Since the class was preparing/reviewing for the district mid year assessments the items were the ideal science review material. The density cubes were perfect for the float or sink lab. To hear some of the chatter such as "Wow, I didn't realize that would sink but it heavy and I see now and "That's more dense or less dense" was a great teacher moment. The tuning forks, landform demonstration kit, friction blocks were all a great hit as well. All items received will definitely increase engagement and make learning fun.”

  • Headphones Please!

    Funded Dec 31, 2020

The headphones are definitely a great support for my students. All students are able to work on varies assignments simultaneously without having distraction and a high noise level in the classroom. One student may be completing a Brain Pop assignments by watching the video while the students surrounding them are reviewing a Go Math video, working on the Interactive Student activity or Quizizz. One of the best support for the headphones is when students are working with the volunteer via TEAMS. Each student store their headphones in their mailbox daily and retrieve them as needed. The headphones are a great bonus for the students in our hybrid classroom.”

  • Equity and Inclusion Using STEAM

    Funded Dec 29, 2020

Thank you for supporting my students and my classroom. During these challenging times trying to keep students excited about learning while social distances has been a hard job. So keeping their love for reading is key when there are books that peek their interest. In our classroom we have several areas with books. We have a book cart with three rows and five bins on each row with math and science books. We also have three white boards with books displayed on each. Those books displayed on the boards are more equity and inclusion books. The students are able to select any book for their reading pleasure for class and home use. Students were super excited to see a book about current Vice President Kamala Harris and Former First Lady Michelle Obama.”

I work at a Title 1 funded school. The majority of the students are on free/reduced lunch. More than 3/4 or the students do not have home access to technology. The students come to school every day excited about learning. I want to continue their love of learning through technology and other innovative methods. The students already enjoy using the computer for school related assignments. Having other technology will allow them to work on individualizing their academics. They will be able to explore with a variety of different level apps and many websites.
