  • Producing Visual Perfection

    Funded Nov 15, 2018

Thank you so much for helping to us to gain these resources for our classroom! It is very exciting to be able to begin producing Public Service Announcements about cyber-safety and cyber-bullying using the new camera that we will soon be receiving. At this time in students' lives, understanding these concepts and their implications for their futures is very important and will have a large impact on decisions that they choose to make. In addition, students will gain unique technical skills in the process of creating these videos for their peers. Thank you again for making this possible! We appreciate you!”

    With gratitude,

  • Winter Wearables

    Funded Oct 5, 2018

Thank you so much for your support for this project! You have helped us to purchase a variety of hats, gloves, and warm fleece hoodies that will go a long way in providing comfort to our students during the cold winter months. These resources are especially important for students who are facing transitions in and out of shelters and other temporary living situations and may not have easy access to essential winter clothing. We appreciate your help and cannot thank you enough for your assistance in helping us to provide these resources to our students. Thank you from all of us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gianniny

  • Just the Basics

    Funded Sep 19, 2018

Thank you very much for helping us to purchase these necessities for our students. These basic goods will go a long way in improving the daily lives of students as they attend our school. You are providing them with the clean socks and underwear that so many of us can easily take for granted. These basics are foundational to our students comfort and hygiene, and they are important in terms of developing a positive attitude and maintaining a sense of confidence among peers. Thank you again for your generosity. We appreciate you!”

  • Warming Up To Winter

    Funded Oct 24, 2017

Thank you so much for helping us get all of these warm winter clothes! It has been a very cold winter so far in Brooklyn and we are grateful for the extra clothes that you helped us purchase. Many students come to school with inadequate clothes for the weather and risk their health as well as their academic and behavioral success. Having the clothing on hand could literally be a life saver in the weather that we have been experiencing so far this year. At this point, much of the clothing has been distributed to students who have demonstrated need and they are styling their new outfits on a regular basis! Thank you so much once again!”

  • Getting Real With Robotics

    Funded Apr 26, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our project, "Getting Real with Robotics!" We have had the opportunity to begin working with our new Sphero Mini robots and to get an idea of what basic code looks like in relation to physical robots. Every day students ask me whether they will have a chance to play with the Spheros! They have really provided a fun and engaging way for students to start exploring both robotics and coding and we really appreciate your role in helping us to have that opportunity. With much gratitude, thanks again for all of your support!”

  • Engineering Our Experiences

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you again for all of your generous support to our project, "Engineering Our Experiences!" Without your help, we would likely not have been able to see this project to fruition. Currently, we are in the process of building a computer with all of the parts that you helped us to acquire. When we finish building the computer, we will be able to pair it with our VR system that we received earlier in the year. With this combination, we will have access to large variety of applications and imagery that will provide students with new perspectives and virtual experiential learning opportunities. Thank you so much once again for your support in our education. We appreciate you.”

  • Building Ourselves Up With Teamwork

    Funded Dec 30, 2017

Thank you so much for helping us to fund this project! With your help, we were able to get a large variety of soccer balls, basketballs, footballs, and jump ropes. These resources will give our students access to team-building sports and activities that they so strongly crave. Not only do we have enough equipment now to play these crucial sports and develop the ability to work together and support one another, but we have enough to give to some of our students who are consistently demonstrating leadership and responsibility both on and off the field. Thank you for supporting the personal growth and development of our students. We appreciate you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gianniny

  • Visualizing Virtually Anything

    Funded Dec 30, 2017

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to work on this project. Using the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality system that we were able to purchase with this grant, my students will soon be able to experience places and events to which they would not otherwise have access. We recently received a complimentary grant that will allow us to build a computer system that is capable of handling our new V.R. system and the combination of these resources will not only give my students the ability to access these experiences, but to create them for their peers. Without your help, this would not likely have been possible. It is with much gratitude and appreciation that we write to you today. Thank you again so much!”

  • Drawing Our Own Conclusions

    Funded Mar 9, 2017

Thank you so much for your support in our effort to create our own comics. My students were very excited about this project and we had a lot of fun working together on it. I will admit that it was a challenge and we didn't achieve quite the level of mastery that I had hoped for. In spite of that, we did make some very notable achievements and my students were eager to see the results of their hard work. This is a project that we will be revisiting next year and I look forward to implementing some improvements on next year's approach. Thank you again for helping us to build our resource library for this project. We look forward to taking advantage of the books and materials that you have provided for years to come!”

  • Envisioning Success

    Funded Apr 15, 2017

I want to thank you for your gracious contributions to our project, 'Envisioning Success.' Our students face many challenges on a daily basis, but a lack of necessary prescription eye-wear should not be one of them. We had a great visit from National Eye Care approximately a month ago. They provided comprehensive eye examinations and in partnership with Warby Parker, they have provided our students with personally chosen, stylish prescription glasses that the students have been wearing proudly ever since. When I see my students wearing their glasses and checking themselves out in car mirrors on our urban playground, I am filled with a sense of pride and I am grateful for the role that each of you played in making this happen. Thank you again from myself and my students. You are appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

I teach technology at a middle school in downtown Brooklyn, NY. The students who attend our school have all been classified as having "emotional disturbance" or "autism" and generally thrive in a setting with a great deal of structure and routine. My objective is to empower my students to see the opportunities that they are all capable of making for themselves. I also hope to provide the tools that my students need to be as independently successful in areas that are motivating to them. We work to our strengths and build upon our weaknesses to better prepare ourselves for an independent and self-reliant, albeit collaborative future.
