  • Classroom Essential Are Needed

    Funded Jun 3, 2018

I would like to personally thank everyone who donated to my students. I constantly amazed by the kindness of strangers. My students cannot believe there are people throughout the United States that care about their success.

When our packages arrive the kids gather around the boxes and the anticipation that is shown on their face makes me smile. They jump up and down with each item that is removed from the box.

You might ask yourself , why pencils, crayons, color pencils, markers, paper would excite a 7 and 8 year old.

This is why, this is the time of year when children are shopping for back to school supplies and uniforms. My kids do not get the opportunity of shopping for new items that are on the supply list. They tend to use last years pencils, markers and supplies that have been bought and saved by their teacher. It becomes a class set. Rarely do they have new unused supplies. New year, new supplies. So providing then with the supplies they require for success we are fostering their academic and personal growth.

And more importantly it lets them know there are others that care about their success.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Desimone

  • Designated Computer Section.

    Funded Jul 9, 2018

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation that funded a computer table for my students.

Having a designated computer area that my students can use the computers without fear of tripping over the wires was also a huge worry for me. Since we have old laptop computers with a short battery life they have to remain plugged in.

We currently have children having to sit near outlets with extension cords everywhere a huge risk of tripping and falling for 7 and 8 year old children. Having a designated computer table eliminates the movement of desks, contains wires and children into one safe area.

    Thank you again”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Desimone

  • Students Who Are Organized Are More Productive.

    Funded May 6, 2017

We greatly appreciate your generous donation to our family. My students are amazed and slightly confused as to why people they don't know would care enough to provide supplies needed that would contribute to their growth as learners.

My students require their supplies to be organized and easily accessible. The binder organizer is low enough that all students are able to remove and return the binder without any casualties or adult supervision.

Our laptops and tablets are now locked away in a new file cabinet for safe keeping.

    Thank you again”

  • Increase Phonemic Awareness and Comprehension By Recording Students Reading!

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

Thank you so much for donating to my class . My students academic and personal success is dependent on so many factors and you have now become a partner in their Learning. Providing them with the tools that will help them achieve their goals is so important . Our donors being a part of that is so heartwarming . I thank you for caring enough to help me help them.

Your thoughtfulness and generosity will forever be appreciated. My students cannot believe that total strangers care about their successes . Its difficult for them to fathom. Each new box that is delivered is like Christmas morning they cannot wait to see what is in the box . I captured their joy on film . Now the anchor charts are centrally located so they can be viewed by all . The recorder has been used daily by all students . They are eager to record themselves reading and are able to listen and assess themselves . That is a huge accomplishment.”

    Funded Jan 29, 2017

Thank you so much for the interactive whiteboard activity tasks. And the phonics and vocabulary games for the listening center. My students are the so engaged when learning through the use of technology.

When activities are on the smart board all hands are raised. Learning becomes fun and exciting. My next project I will be purchasing additional activities in math and reading,

I cannot thank you enough for taking a interest in my students academic and personal growth. Knowing that others care about them gives them the incentive to try harder.”

  • Activity Tables Instead of Desks Can Aid In Overall Performance

    Funded Jan 13, 2017

My students live in an area that has the highest level of poverty. They have so little, their faced with so many obstacles. My goal is to make their learning environment as comfortable and inviting as possible.

Our activity tables arrived Friday afternoon. Monday morning when my students walked into the classroom and saw their new workstation the look on their face was priceless. Having a comfortable, positive and engaging learning space can makes a world of difference.

The many benefits of having activity tables verses traditional desks, it fosters teamwork , encourages socialization, helps student stay focused (no items in desk to distract them) group work and conversation. Students are free to walk around classroom without clutter.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Desimone

  • Learning through Listening

    Funded Dec 15, 2016

I want to thank you for taking an interest in becoming a partner in my students academic advancement. As you can see by the pictures posted my students were beyond excited to try out their new listening center. Usually, they would only get 20 minutes to listen to a book and respond, they were so engaged that I had to promise them an extra session later in the day just to get them to move to the next task. Students who usually shy away from reading a book are so eager to put those headphones on and discuss the book with their classmates.

The sound phones are also a huge hit. They cannot wait to grab their independent reading book and their phones. I've never seen my kids so eager to read. Thank you so much !!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Desimone

  • Engaging Students Through The Use Of Technology!

    Funded Dec 22, 2016

Thank you so much for donating to my class. My students enjoy learning through the use of technology. There are so many useful educational apps that will help my students increase their comprehension, vocabulary and phonics. My students are able to access books online that interest them. My students enter the class each morning and their eyes immediately look to the computer schedule, since we only had two kindles I had many disappointed students. So with your generous donation I was able to purchase two additional tablets. Again thank you for taking an interest in my students academic growth by becoming a partner in their learning.”

  • Learning to Love Math Through Technology and Hands-on Manipulatives

    Funded Jun 21, 2016

    Dear Con Edison,

I can't thank you enough for donating to my second grade class. Since we live in a world that is dominated by technology. It is so important for my students to be knowledgeable on what information can be gained by using tablets. Not only can they gather information but they can use their tablets for reading and math. There are so many educational apps that will help my students.

They are practice their adding and subtracting and are eager to do so.. Downloading books at their independent reading level makes them excited to read. They are able to play math games and are loving it. They don't realize that they are actually learning and practicing their skills. Their words " This is so cool Ms. D"

Since my students are hands on learners it was so important for them to have math manipulative that are in the form of games. It is so important for students to have number sense and having my students be able to use the base ten frame and and the other math manipulative that you so graciously provided. Many of my students receive OT and having larger trays is so beneficial to them. Thank you for being a partner in their learning. Ms. DeSimone”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Desimone
